Vehicle Detail
I am selling a 1970 VW Beetle Body that has been fixed to a 1988 Honda Civic DX. The car is fully automatic and has many unique features, a real cruise-in attention getter. The car chassis was driven throughout the process and is road worthy with just a few things remaining to be done. My current financial situation requires that I sell it now. The work preformed has been docmented in photos. The 1988 Honda Civic was a light roll-over, roof damage, broken glass. The chassis was tied together with a roll bar system. The VW body was widened 6" at each rain gutter and there was an 8" stretch between the windshield and hood. The fuel door was relocated to the back and opens from a pull knob inside the trunk, the hood opens using the Honda pull cable, the doors are electric solenoid actuated by magnetic switches near the rear pop-out windows. The window cranks on the honda door operate the Beetle glass. The Beetle doors are attached to the Honda Doors, so the entire interior is still Honda, When you get in, the dash, front and rear door panels, steering wheel and all switches are Honda, just like sitting inside a civic. All lights, turn signals, back-up lights, high-Low beams work from the stock honda switches. Everything works, even the windshield wipers (VW Motor) operated by the Honda switch. It has new wire spoke wheels, 13" with a 3 to 4" offset and new tires. I have most of the parts to finish it, but is drivable as is. It needs front brake pads, the front rotors are very good, just needs pads ($15-30), The rear brake shoes need replaced and there is seapage at one of the rear brake wheel cylinders, I would figure on brake shoes, brake spring kit and both wheel cylinders, possibly rear drums. Not a lot of money for the "do it yourselfer'. One gas tank strap needs replaced as it was damaged in the wreck, and their is a gas line hose that needs replaced, slight drip of fuel on occasion, not a biggie. I have the VW emblem for the hood (new), the window track rubbers (new), all the front suspension parts, bought an entire kit but found only one tie rod end needed replaced, There is a big box of stuff, can't remember all that is in it. I have not driven the car except for up and down the road a few miles each way.... it is cool. The paint is shiney, the body work has a few blemishes and some filler porosity here and there but looks great from a few feet away. This car is well constructed, and is a great economy cruiser, great on gas, cheap parts, and hey, it's a HONDA. The car has a clear Ohio Title, Titled as a 1970 VW. The civic has 154,838 showing on the odometer and is all stock, runs great, fresh oil change, good to go. Herbie on Steroids. I call it the Hon-Dub. Great for the young at heart, fully automatic, front wheel drive, power steering, no radio, no A/C, manual windows, plain jane cruiser. You will not be disappointed. I access the computer every day or so, and will answer any questions as soon as I can. I have a very low reserve, my loss is your gain. I am not sure about emission testing on this, we have none in my county, it should be exempt as it is over 25 years old. car is for sale locally, so I may end the auction early.
