Vehicle Detail
I have a 1970 Porsche 911 Targa for sale. I have owned this car for 9 years. I am the 4th owner of this car since new in 1970. The car was built in western Germany. It has the plate when you open the driver’s door that shows western Germany. VIN# 9110110243. The car is jet black. I had it painted about 7 years ago; it was white when I bought it. It has some small imperfections in the paint from normal wear and tear. The paint on the hood is starting to chip and bubble in some places. The hood and the front bumper need painting. There are a couple of rust places about the size of a nickel on the rear quarter panel and on the passenger side front fender as well as the passenger door. The floor pan has rust in some areas but can be easily replaced. The tow hook underneath the front of the car is rusted; I have a new tow hook (included) about $400 but have not installed it. It needs to be welded in place. The valves and carbs need adjusting and the car needs an alignment. The turn signals don’t work because they are built into the stock tach and it has been replaced with an Autometer tach. The bushings are worn in the shifter but shifts fine when drove by the right driver (not my wife)! The Dunlop tires are getting worn and need replacing. It has newer headlights (about 2 years old). Sadly the car has been in an accident. I got hit by car at an intersection. The fender, hood and headlight were damaged. That’s when I got both headlights replaced at the same time. I have most of the interior out of the car right now because I was hoping to put new carpet in, fix up the interior, and see the extent of the rust. The car doesn’t look like a 1970. The previous owner had turbo flares professionally installed. The motor is out of a 74 911S. It’s a lot stronger than what came in the 1970 911. The 2.7L has plenty of hp. The car is a blast to drive! The actual targa top is in good condition other than the side seals. The side and roll bar seals need replacing. I just bought a new hood seal and rear bumper to body seals. I also purchased aftermarket all black racing seats with 4 point harnesses. The car has triple throat Weber carburetors with K&N air filters. It has a new lightweight starter as well. Again the car is a blast to drive. I have autocrossed the Porsche a couple of times and It held up with the best!! Quality is one thing Porsche got right for sure! The 2.7L has not been altered at all to my knowledge, the only problem I have ever had in the almost 10 yrs I have owned it is with the starter, it went out. The 911 sure is a looker! If I didn’t absolutely have too, I would NOT get rid of the car. I love this 911!! I got another little one on the way and times are tough! I also have the original tool kit that came with the car. I’ve tried to be as accurate as I can with the knowledge of the car(good and Bad). If you are looking for a project without a lot of work and time, this is the 911 for you!
