Vehicle Detail

Up for bid: 1970 Ford F-100 Custom flatbed stake side truck with 110,025 original miles. NO RESERVE! Coming into the last hours of this auction…if anyone needs to contact me with questions, you may contact me via phone at 317-605-3635. Please feel free to do so and I will answer your questions best I can. Thanks! Please be sure to look at all the photos. Several of the photos show the truck before it was stored when the bed was finished. The heavy cable that is draped from under the hood once ran to stereo amplifiers that were located in the tool boxes (it can be easily disconnected from the battery). The black rectangular thing above the bumper is a rubber boot for one of the missing flood lights below the bumper (it was laying there and I didn't notice it when I took the photo...it is not damage to the paint or bumper). The truck has been stored and is a little dusty at this time. This truck has been single family owned (non-smoking)…first owned by my father who purchased the truck new in October of 1969, then owned by me (his son) from 1985 on. The truck has always been garage kept, and has been stored at my parents since I last drove it in 1991. I believe it was last started in 1997, but not driven at that time due to flat tires. We had not intended to actually store the truck for as long as it has been sitting and failed to place it on jacks or drain the fuel. Thus, it will need some work before it can be driven. Please do not expect to be able to put the keys in it and drive it away. It will need to be pulled by winch out of the garage and onto a full trailer in order to be moved. It may need the engine cleaned. It will need new tires, new hoses, new belt, and a new battery at the very least. (Ideally, if one could jack it up, take the rims and put new tires on it prior to towing, that would be great, and you might then be able to tow it on a dolly, but I am not sure.) The body of the truck is in very good condition, with only a few spots where the paint is bubbling near the passenger side fender (see photo). There is minor trim damage on the front just to the right of the "F" in Ford. The bed which is Douglas Fur was once finished with a marine varnish and will either need to be refinished or painted as it is currently bare wood. I was in the middle of doing some interior work when I parked the truck. This is a really nice truck and would be great for someone wanting a nice old truck to restore who doesn’t want to do a lot of body work. The front suspension has been lowered several inches via spring clamps, and the rear was professionally lowered by cutting the leaf spring saddles. When last it was driven, it handled very nicely. As mentioned, the truck has been garage stored and was always well kept. The bed of the truck was custom made, as were the stake sides…the truck was used by my father to transport custom made cabinetry that he built. He stopped building cabinets in the early 70’s, so it was really only used for several years. When I started driving it in ’85 it had around 25,000 miles on it. During its driven daily life it needed only minor repairs…brakes, distributor, and master brake cylinder replacement. The truck does not have AC (does have heat) or a radio (was purchased without those two things…I did have a stereo in the truck at one time). The engine is a 240 Straight-6 (listed as 150 hp). It was always very dependable. Under the hood is very roomy…it would be easy to work on. I had added an aftermarket air filter and a high velocity radiator fan to keep it running cool. The color of the truck is called “New Lime”. It is kind of a light yellow with a slight green tint. In 1987 (I think) I had minor bodywork done to the truck (replaced the lower fenders just in front of the doors with new metal and had the truck repainted (still in the original factory color, both inside and out). I have to say I was always very proud of this truck…kept it clean and sparkling (though it has become dusty over the years of being stored). I am looking for someone who will also take good care of it and bring her back to her glory. I always thought I would get back to work on the truck, but have found I haven’t been able to and now I need to find it a new home. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will do my best to answer them. The truck is located in Winchester Indiana. If you would like to see the truck, please let me know and I will try to arrange to meet you to show it to you. People who have seen it always seem to be really impressed by it. Thank you for taking a look at this listing. I hope you can help me find a good home for my old Ford F-100. Coming into the last hours of this auction…if anyone needs to contact me with questions, you may contact me via phone at 317-605-3635. Please feel free to do so and I will answer your questions best I can. Thanks! On Sep-30-10 at 23:08:05 PDT, seller added the following information: Quite a few people have viewed this, and there are quite a few people watching it. Don't wait till the last minute to place your bid, or you may run the risk of not getting your bid in. The truck is as it is shown, stored in the garage it is shown being stored in. The stake sides are leaning up against the wall (except for the one that is seen installed at the front of the bed). If you have any questions just ask and I will try to answer as soon as I can...I may not be able to answer last minute questions. Thank you so much for your interest in my truck and Happy Bidding!!! Good Luck! Coming into the last hours of this auction…if anyone needs to contact me with questions, you may contact me via phone at 317-605-3635. On Oct-01-10 at 08:07:07 PDT, seller added the following information: Added two more photos, one taken in 1985 that shows the stake sides on the truck, and one taken in 1986. These represent the past history of the truck...today the truck is as shown in the photos taken in the garage where it has been stored.
