Vehicle Detail
If you’re the kind who gets upset when your floor mat sits askew then move along. Up for auction here is a very well used Pearl Blue 2001 Chrysler Town and Country with 240,000 miles. I’m the original owner of this car. I drove it off the lot in Jan of 2001 with 14 miles on it and I’ve driven it every day since. But the check engine light is on now. Here in the counties in SE Wisconsin where emission testing is required that’s an automatic fail. The code it’s showing is P700. The web says that means torque converter issues. I don’t know. I know I’ve driven it every damn day and I’ve not ever even once had it strand me. I’d still be driving it now but I can’t get the plates renewed. The good news…. 1 - This car is, and always has been, a reliable daily driver. As reliable as anything I’ve ever been in. But for the DOT I’d still be driving it now. I wouldn’t hesitate to take it to Nevada tomorrow. 2 – The interior is dirty but otherwise very nice. No rips, no tears, no burn marks except for a small tear above the glove box on the dash. If you portered it it’d look 5 years younger. 3 – The motor was giving up last year so I had it replaced with a used one. This motor now has about 110,000 on it total. 80K on the Caravan it came out of, 30K in my T&C.. 4 – All 4 tires are top of the line Michelin’s. The front 2 are probably good for another 20,000, the back two for another 40,000.. The bad news….. 1 – The air doesn’t work. 2 – The battery is weak. Drive it every day, you’ll okay. Leave it for a week and you’ll need a jump. 3 – There’s some rusting on the hood as shown in the pics. 4 – On the passenger side rear there’s a nice mark where I scraped a pole. 5 – The driver’s side sliding door has some rust at the bottom. 6 – The back hatch is a close match but it’s not original, it’s off a Caravan. 7 – Until 2 years ago I smoked. The kids say you can’t tell but I want to be honest. 8 – The column was cracked. It wasn’t stolen but the column bottom plastic is busted. 9 – The brakes squeak. They work fine and they will for a long time to come. But at low speed they squeak. 10 – We parked it for the last time the day the drivers side drag link broke. It’s about a $20 part but I didn’t bother because I’d already bought a new car. I rigged it back together with duct tape and zip ties but you’re not gonna want to drive it that way for very far. If you DO want to drive it home, let me know at auctions end that you’re gonna bring an extra $50 with you. I’ll put a brand new drag link on it before you get here and you can drive it away. I’ve tried to include pics of as many issues as I can but again, it has 240,000 miles on it so bid accordingly because it’s being sold as is where is. You’re welcome to email me and I’ll be happy to have you stop out and take it for a spin. It runs fine, it runs well, you just can’t tell them you live in this part of the state when you title it. It works perfect but I can only find one of the remotes for it. If you’re the kind who gets upset when your floor mat sits askew then move along.
