Vehicle Detail
Relisted: Previous auction winner was granted a purchase waiver. Note: This car is a recent conversion from a 4 door sedan and does not have a top! NO RESERVE 1954 PLYMOUTH BELVIDERE JOHNNY CASH'S FAVORITE CAR Johnny Cash said it was the "best car" he ever owned. Not this one! But one like it! This one however, has been transformed from a HO-HUM! 4 door sedan to a gorgeous all American favorite - a two door roadster Convertible (no top or side glass). Can't help it if the pictures make it look like it is show ready. IT IS NOT! It still deserves a quality paint job, bumpers rechromed, new tires (the white walls are painted on very old tires) brake work and mechanical work. The only rust found was under the battery and the drivers floor so a patch panel was installed over the bad part. Fenders, doors, quarters, rockers and trunk floor are solid, no rust and straight. Most of these 50's Plymouths have weathered away. This one has escaped the perils of the past and made an excellent candidate for a roadster conversion. May never enter the Barrett Jackson arena but will always be a crowd pleaser at any cruise event. The previous owner claimed to be the 3rd owner, drove it home after 27 years storage, messed with the engine and couldn't get it to run again. Sold it to me and I don't know why it won't start either. Guess it needs the magic touch of a Gear head Guru. Too much attention given to the conversion and not the driving part. Anyway, I have a new set of points and a wheel cylinder kit for the new owner to install. Odometer shows 71000 miles - may be correct , but not guaranteed. It has a Hy Drive transmission. All the lights work, even the signal lights but the signal lever is missing. Has the original trunk floor mat. Spare tire is not correct for this car. Also has one extra wheel cover. Does not have a muffler. This is an accident free original classic with some very desirable changes. It has the factory original color paint (repainted one time) and still has the factory assembly number #517 visable in crayon on the firewall. If you always wanted a convertible and thought you couldn't afford one, think again - This one may be topless, but for the money ( NO reserve) you can't afford to pass it up! You finish! You Save. Learn how Johnny Cash's 1954 Plymouth "Best Car I Ever Owned" statement became part of a new car give away contest in 1972. Go to www.allpar.com/history/plymouth/johnny-cash.html Stop by, if you can and see this classic conversion for yourself and see why Johnny Cash gave "Thumbs Up" on the 1954 Plymouth. No reserve and priced to sell! NOTE: If you have negative feedback or feedback rating of "0" e-mail me information that would indicate that you are a serious qualified bidder so that your bid will not be disqualified. Sorry but there are some who just play games.
