"Time to pick up an Avanti is now!" (Hemmings motors) 1963 Studebaker Avanti R1 V-8, 4 Speed Manual (Really don't want to sell it other than necessity. My loss your gain). Here is a great opportunity to buy the first production model year Avanti made by Studebaker for 1963. The Studebaker version is a double collectors item, one of the last Studebakers, and the first Generation of the Avanti. Designed by Raymond Loewy the Avanti was a futuristic design which still looks like a modern car today! It has a fiberglassed body with a big V-8, disk brakes, aircraft style guages and switches. It was advertised as the premier high performance American sports car of it's era, taking many speed records for the year. http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z4330/Studebaker-Avanti-R2.aspx http://www.hemmings.com/hcc/stories/2009/08/01/hmn_buyers_guide1.html http://www.theavanti.com/ The vehicle in this auction is a Stock R-1 with a high performance Studebaker 289 (Studebaker Factory Stock) Syncromesh 4 Speed Manual, Front Disk brakes, Anti Sway bars front and rear. Red exterior with "fawn" and red interior. The 63 has a red and black carpeting (This one comes with new never installed carpet). It has recently come out of storage, to be detailed and ready to restore. The vehicle is not running and will need an engine wiring harness to get running, and hog trough replacement. The paint was redone about 15 years ago using Imron paint. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Personally this is one of the best vehicles that will only increase in value, simple to work on, and replacement parts still available. The Avanti has quite the following, and I enjoy hearing stories and memories people tell of the Avanti. Financial necessity forces us to sell this great car! As is, where is.
