We have a 1970 AMX for auction. This one has all the desired options. 390 CID V8 with the 4 speed transmission. Radio delete with manual steering and Air Conditioning! 3.91 optional ratio posi traction rear end. Go Pak with Ram Air and Power Disc Brakes. Black vinyl interior with Bayshore Blue exterior. 40,000 original miles on an Arizona car. Zero rust period. Never any rust repairs. This car has many original parts and features. One thing that is not original is the engine. It has the casting number 3198951 warranty block. There is a tag on the valve cover that shows the warranty block part number along with the original 390 tag. Everything else on the engine is original 390. Heads, intake, carburetor etc are the originals. It even still has the complete Air Guard smog system that still works. The starter is the original. Date code is correct. I had it rebuilt. Master cylinder is original. Date code correct. It was brass sleeved and rebuilt. Carburetor has the tag and has been rebuilt. AC compressor is new but never charged. The transmission and the balance of the driveline is original and in good working order. The exhaust system is all original except for the mufflers. All the original pipes and clamps are still there and in good shape. Rear end ratio is the optional 3.91 posi traction. The original factory riveted in ball joints are still intact and in good shape. All the brakes have been gone over and work. Tires are circa 1984 bias ply and in good shape. Wheels are the original Magnum 500's. The body is superb. Zero rust. All seams are perfect. No rust at all in the trunk or door seams. All original spot welds. Trunk is all original with the spatter paint still in pretty good shape. It even still has the original trunk mat. Floors and the rest are superb. This car was undercoated. Everything is original. The only spot on the body that may need replacement is the battery tray. The picture shows the condition. The fender panel under the tray looks good with a little surface rust. The rear valance has a few dents from backing into something? The gas tank is a replacement from another late 1970 model year car. Non vented as the original. Perfect shape. A new sender was installed. The interior is mostly original. The seats, door panels and dash are unrestored. The original long style seat sides are still there. The headliner and the carpet have been replaced. The dash pad has the usual curl. The rim blow steering wheel does not work. Everything else is in good shape. Door panels and handles are nice. Not perfect but very nice. The bumpers have been rechromed. The hockey stick trim has been rechromed. The 3 tail light housings are NOS. Lenses are original. The grill is NOS. The rocker moldings have been professionaly restored and look NOS. Overall this car is a mostly original untouched car. It is not a show car as can be seen in the underhood pictures. Some things have been replaced with NOS parts as described. The paint is driver quality with some runs in the clear coat that was applied at sometime in the past. The jambs and trunk are original. There are a few defects in the paint on the hood. Looks like poor surface prep resulted in a few places where the paint lifted. In short, the paint would need to be redone for a show car. This is probably one of a handful of these cars left with the majority of the original date coded parts. I had originally planned on restoring this car but decided to leave it alone. I have another car in my sights which is why I am considering selling this AMX. I collect only original unrestored cars and would never sell this one except that I want something different that has become available. Non AMC but still a classic....... I GUESS I NEED TO ADD THAT I AM NOT INTERESTED IN ANY TRADES. Thanks!
