Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 2009 Cadillac CTS DI (Direct Injection) sedan with the $10,000 extra cost Premium Luxury Collection package (PDQ) and the panoramic (aka Ultraview) sunroof. It’s finished in one of GM’s best looking colors, Crystal Red Tintcoat (color code 89U, 394) which itself is a $1,000 extra, and it has the two-tone Cashmere/Cocoa interior with high polished Sapele wood trim. It’s powered by a 304 horsepower all aluminum direct injection 3.6 liter dual overhead cam 24-valve V6 engine that has received numerous rave reviews by engineers and the automotive press for it’s high power output, excellent economy and inherent smoothness. The CTS was the first American production car to offer direct injection in 2008. DI systems pressurize the fuel to a much higher level than conventional fuel injection, and then directly inject the fuel into the cylinders instead of into the intake runners. Direct injection has many benefits over standard fuel injection. The directly injected fuel has a cooling effect that allows designers to increase compression ratios and program more aggressive ignition timing curves into the engine computer, and it also allows for ultra lean air-fuel ratios as high as 65:1 compared to 14.7:1 on conventional fuel injection. What this results in is greater power, better fuel economy and reduced emmisions. In fact, this DI engine puts out over 40 more horsepower than the base CTS engine with the same 3.6L displacement and without the need for premium fuel like most sports luxury cars do! The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control (DSC®) and adaptive Comfort/Sport modes. This transmission has low first and second gears that provide brisk acceleration which gets you from 0 to 60 mph in a sports car like 5.8 seconds, while the high top gear allows for effortless highway cruising and excellent fuel economy figures of over 30 mpg in real world driving. With Driver Shift Control you can move the shifter to the right and then tap it up or down to shift the transmission like a manual for more control on winding roads or passing maneuvers. In Sport mode the transmission can adapt to your driving style and upshift later and downshift sooner for greater power and acceleration. The styling of the new second generation CTS is an evolution of the previous generation’s clean lines and sweeping curves while adding bold and aggressive elements to form a beautiful updated design. A quick walk around the car reveals how the CTS is one of the most powerful, sophisticated and stylish vehicles ever created in the luxury sport class of automobiles. From up front, its sharp sleek lines, steeply raked windshield, and clear lens headlights flow into sweeping curves along the sides of the car. Then, going back, they meld into muscular wheel arches filled overflowing with wide low profile tires on beautiful mirror polished aluminum wheels, followed by a short trunk lid at the rear, suggesting this car is ready to take off at any moment. It’s chic Euro-styling that looks handsome from any angle without being flashy. It takes styling cues from some of the priciest German, British and Italian luxury cars as well as creating some that are all it’s own. Notice the xenon projector beam adaptive headlight assemblies with jeweled turn signal lenses and vertical ribbon parking lights in the front, the dark tinted glass roof with shark-fin satellite radio antenna up top and the clear lens LED tail lights with vertical ribbon parking lights, sweeping center LED tail light and polished stainless steel dual exhaust tips out back. If you like traditional craftsmanship combined with high tech design, the interior is a feast for the eyes. Get in and sit down in a 10 way power seat that adjusts to the perfect driving position with settings for lumbar support and recline, and the power tilt and telescoping leather wrapped and wood trimmed steering wheel that memorizes each drivers favorite position. Notice the soft supple feel of the perforated soft grain upholstery, take a deep breath and inhale the scent of aromatic leathers surrounding you. Like the inside of a classic English pub, the rich musky interior scent of the leather is more like a classic British Jaguar or Bentley than a Cadillac. Now glance above you at the oversize glass roof that lets both the front and the rear occupants enjoy the view. Lastly, gaze over at the dashboard and center stack to admire the beautiful high polished genuine Sapele wood trim and how it integrates old-world craftsmanship with the latest pop-up touch screen display system. Note the brushed aluminum accent trim surrounding the control panels and feel the precision of the soft-touch control switches throughout. Notice the chrome details around the shifter, the clock, the knobs and even the heater vents. At nighttime notice the soft glow accent lighting around the wood trim, behind the door handles and throughout the interior. You can see why one car magazine said, “The museum of modern art doesn‘t have a display as stylish as the inside of this car!” And this isn’t just some boutique car, all show and no go. A graduate of Germany’s notorious Nurburgring racetrack, the CTS leaves no doubt as to it’s driving potential. As the performance figures noted previously, this car will keep up with most any sports car on the road yet won’t drain your wallet at the gas pump when you fill it with regular gas If you are looking for a car with a silent engine, a floating ride and which avoids much driver interaction, this may not be the perfect car for you. While the CTS is all Cadillac with a comfortable ride and luxurious appointments, it is a German inspired sports sedan at heart. And as such, it has a tighter suspension and low profile tires to better feel the road but may transmit more noise to the cabin. It has comfortable seats that may feel firm at first, but after a 12-hour drive, you feel you could go another five hours easy. It has a low restriction true dual exhaust system with large diameter pipes that are quiet at idle and cruising yet provide a satisfying growl under brisk acceleration. And you are readily aware that you have a sophisticated multi-valve power plant under the hood from the sound of all the cams whirling and the high-pressure injectors pulsing. In other words, the CTS doesn’t isolate you from driving as much as it does to involve you. This CTS is fully equipped with all the desirable safety, comfort and convenience features and equipment including: 304 H.P. Direct Injection engine 6-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control (DSC®) and adaptive Comfort/Sport modes All-Season Traction Control System (TCS) Air conditioning with dual-zone automatic climate control with cabin air filter Premium Luxury Collection package (option code PDQ) which includes: Hard Drive based navigation system with large 8” pop-up screen and direct touch input with XM/NavTraffic/Real Time Weather Ultraview® panoramic sunroof with tilt and slide functions and one touch open and close plus power one touch sunshade Soft grain premium leather upholstery with perforated seating areas 10-way power driver and passenger seats including power recline and lumbar adjustment plus two driver’s memories for seat, steering wheel and mirror position that can be matched to each remote, and easy entry/easy exit modes Heated front seats Air conditioned and ventilated front seats Bose 5.1 Cabin Surround Sound 10-speaker sound system with subwoofer, Radio Data System® (RDS) and XM satellite radio 40GB Hard Drive with USB connectivity, iPod® jack and steering wheel mounted controls Bluetooth® hands free phone system with steering wheel mounted controls Universal Home Remote aka HomeLink® garage door/gate opener system for up to three devices. Details of some of these features are described in the section that follows. If you are familiar with the CTS you may want to skip over this as it’s quite lengthy, but if you are not, it will provide a comprehensive though not all encompassing overview of what the car is about. The 6-speed automatic transmission has a dual mode automatic shift program that can be kept in the Comfort mode for ordinary road conditions, or switched to the Sport mode during more spirited driving sessions such as on twisting back roads. It keeps the engine in its powerband longer and delays upshifts for faster acceleration. Or for maximum control, it can be shifted manually by moving the shifter to the right from “D” and taping forward for an upshift and backwards for a down shift. The automatic climate control system with heated and ventilated seats has dual zones for driver and passenger so each can ride in the climate of their choice. If the driver likes it cooler, the passenger can still keep their side warmer by adjusting the control unit. A solar sensor, exterior temperature sensor and interior temperature sensors automatically adjust the comfort level to the desired setting. The best part is the ventilated seats. Perforations in the seating surfaces gently blow cold, cool or warm air via a three speed fan control on to your back and legs. You will never have to exit the car with the back of your shirt soaked in sweat or the bottom of your legs sticking to the leather. The power glass Ultraview® panoramic sunroof provides a huge expanse of glass for the driver as well as front and rear passengers and lets in great views that an ordinary sunroof can’t match. One-touch express operation opens and closes it in both slide or tilt (pop-up) modes. The sunshade is also power operated with one-touch express control. The same one-touch express-open/close operation also applies to the windows and is a great feature when approaching and leaving toll booths or drive-up banking and fast food restaurants as the window goes all the way down or up without having to hold the switch. The navigation system utilizes a 40GB hard drive rather than a DVD and comes with an oversize 8 inch pop-up touch screen. You can input most commands just by touching the screen, and XM/NavTraffic/Real Time Weather is available to direct you around traffic jams, accidents or bad weather incidents that may cause road closures or delays. The hard drive is also a key component in the Bose 5.1 sound system letting you download and store thousands of your favorite songs with a USB connection or listen to songs via the iPod port. This advanced Bose system features 10 speakers including a subwoofer in the rear package shelf for maximum bass notes, an in dash CD changer, Radio Data System® (RDS) and XM satellite radio. Bluetooth® is available for your hands free phone system. With the steering wheel mounted controls you can make and receive calls without your hands ever leaving the wheel and without an earpiece. The hard drive stores your address book and phone numbers while the nav screen displays them and sound comes through the stereo speakers as clear as if the other person was seated next to you. The Universal Home Remote aka HomeLink® garage door/gate opener system eliminates the clutter of keeping up to three different remotes in the car. You can program two of the HomeLink buttons for your garage doors and the third for the front gate if you live in a gated community. Then just press the appropriate button in the overhead console to open. High Intensity Discharge (HID) xenon headlights provide a much brighter and longer reaching light beam than conventional halogen lights and the Adaptive Forward Lighting System pivots the headlamps right or left into turns to provide greater road illumination around curves. In Auto mode you never have to turn the headlights on or off yourself as a light sensor detects the ambient light, and in delay off mode, the headlights stay on up to two minutes after exiting the car to illuminate your driveway. LED brake lights illuminate slightly faster and bright than conventional bulbs giving the person behind you a quicker warning during panic stopping that could be enough to avoid an accident. Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist (URPA) assists in reverse parking maneuvers by providing both an audible and visual alert when obstacles are behind you. As you get closer to an object, the rate of beeping will increase and warning lights in the rear display unit (visible through the rearview mirror) will illuminate up to three lights, two amber and one red. The EZ Key® passive entry and start system lets you enter and start your car without ever taking a key out of your pocket or purse. When you have the remote anywhere on your person, you can open a locked door or trunk as easily as if it’s already unlocked. To start the car you don’t need to fumble looking for your keys either, just step on the brake and turn the ignition switch. When you leave the car it locks by itself as well. The remote vehicle start system lets you start the car from inside your home (or anywhere within the transmitter’s 200 foot range) on cold days so when you are ready to drive off it’s warmed up enough to be comfortable. And no, you don’t have to be a “bomb worthy” head of state, mobster or billionaire to appreciate its uses. It can be programmed to turn on the defroster, heater or seat heater (as well as the A/C in summer) and is completely secure. The doors are locked so no one can drive off with the car, and even if someone broke in, they would still need the remote since the PASS-Key® immobilizer would shut the engine off if the car was driven. The 10-way power driver seat has a two person memory so you can program each persons favorite seat position, steering wheel position and mirror setting and recall those settings with a touch of a button. The settings can also be programmed to the remote so the seat, steering wheel and mirrors are at your desired position as soon as you open the door. Power door locks can be programmed for numerous functions including automatically locking when you shift into drive, or alternatively when you reach 8 mph. Automatically unlocking just the drivers door or all the doors when you shift into park. The OnStar® System is the world's most comprehensive in-vehicle security, communications, and diagnostics system available today. All it’s features are too extensive to list here but highlights include, remote unlocking if you leave your keys inside, vehicle tracking and immobilization if your car is stolen, automatic call for assistance if you are in an accident and the airbags deploy (great if you are unconscious and have run off the road where no other drivers would notice you), trip routing, navigation aid, etc. Rainsense® windshield wipers automatically turn on and adjust the wiping rate to the intensity of the rainfall. No need to constantly fiddle with the intermittent setting in variable conditions. The tire pressure monitoring system lets you see the pressure in each individual tire in the DIC display without having to get out of the vehicle or use a tire pressure gauge. It also has a low pressure warning if a tire goes below a set pressure. If you get a nail in a tire, the DIC will display a warning before the tire goes dangerously low so you can either change the tire at a safe location or add air and repair the tire later. Electrochromic auto-dimming interior rearview mirror automatically reduces glare from vehicles behind you by darkening when bright headlights approach from behind. The turn signals have a one-touch lane change feature that activates for 3 flashes with just a touch. The trunk mounted battery is away from the harsh under hood environment so it will last longer and it provides better overall weight distribution in a rear wheel drive vehicle. There is a remote under hood positive terminal for jump starts. Battery rundown protection automatically shuts off inadvertently left on electrical consumers like map lights after about 20 minutes to prevent running down the battery, and Retained Accessory Power (RAP) lets you operate electrical accessories like the stereo, power windows or sunroof for up to 10 minutes after shutting off the ignition. This car is also loaded with all the active safety features Cadillac is known for such as 8 airbags including dual front, front side and front and rear window curtain head protection airbags, Active Head Restraints (AHR) that reduce whiplash injuries by moving forward in a rear-end collision to prevent the head from abruptly moving backwards, seatbelt pretensioners that take up slack in the seatbelts to firmly secure the occupants in their seats during a crash, Anti-Lock Brakes(ABS) with Electronic Brake Assist (EBA) that can sense panic stopping and automatically apply all available power brake boost instantly to potentially reduce stopping distances, StabiliTrak® electronic stability program (ESP) enhances directional control with over/understeering of the vehicle being counteracted by applying brakes to the appropriate wheel to create a countervailing vehicle movement and All-Season Traction Control System (TCS) to help counteract wheelspin on ice and snow covered roads. It goes without saying that the car has all the finest passive safety features as well including high strength low alloy steel in critical areas, advanced front and rear crumple zones, reinforced floorpan, doors and door sills for excellent protection against side impact, the LATCH system child seat anchors and a glow in the dark emergency trunk release handle for children that accidentally trap themselves in the trunk It all adds up to one of the most comprehensive safety systems in the industry. It’s a one owner Virginia titled car (which is probably why it’s so clean). CLICK HERE to see the title. It has a clean and clear CarFax history. CLICK HERE to see the Carfax report. The recall mentioned in the Carfax has been done. It has a beautiful dent-free body with a brilliant paint finish. General Motors latest water-borne paint technology produces the most wet looking finishes of any car builder and this extra cost Crystal Red Tintcoat is a prime example. It looks absolutely dazzling in the sunlight, and sometimes you can’t resist touching it to see if it’s dry. The paint has just recently been cleaned with Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay System, polished with Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze cleaner polish and topped off with Meguiar’s Synthetic Sealant for a high gloss shine. Even both the front and also the back sides of the wheels have been cleaned, polished and sealed to look terrific! How obsessed is that? Ditto for the polished chrome dual exhaust tips. I’ve looked the car over top to bottom and found no evidence that it was ever wrecked or that it even has any previous paint or body work. Since it was probably mostly highway driven, it doesn’t even have a door ding, bumper nick or paint scratch to speak of. It’s hard enough to find a 30,000 or 40,000 mile car that hasn’t had at least a fender replaced or bumper repainted, let alone one with more than twice those miles like this one. The interior is also in great condition showing only minimal wear. The trunk looks like it was barely ever used and the engine compartment looks immaculate. Overall this car is as clean as, and looks as nice as one with just 30,000 miles. Mechanically it runs and drives excellent. The engine pulls strong and yet feels silky smooth while accelerating and throughout the cruising range and the transmission shifts are barely noticeable. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side when stopping, and the suspension is tight. It has a matching set of four nearly new high performance low profile Michelin Pilot Sport tires size 235/50R18. The only mechanical issues to note are the check engine light illuminates sometimes. When scanned it shows a stored code number P2187 which refers to a too lean at idle condition. A tech said it’s likely caused by a tiny vacuum leak from a gasket or vacuum hose but he couldn’t find anything obvious, so the intake manifold gasket was replaced as a possible solution. Before that, the code would set 50-75 miles after being erased. After that gasket was replaced the code has come back just once but has been over 150 miles since it was last erased. Hopefully that solved it and since it doesn’t affect drivability I haven’t looked into it any further, but I want to inform you that it may reappear. The only other issue is an occasional rattle from the rear package shelf when going over bumps. Again, since it only happens randomly and the annoyance isn’t great enough, I haven’t looked into it any further. The mileage may be high for a 2009 model but it’s mostly highway miles which are a lot easier on a car than the constant stop and go traffic of city driving. Most engine wear occurs during cold starts, and since this car was on the road most of the time to acquire those miles, it probably has the same number of cold starts as one with only 30,000 miles. The car comes with all the books: Both EZ Key remotes: And the factory floormats: The car has been fully serviced with nearly $5,000 worth of new or recent parts, maintenance and service with original General Motors, AC Delco or other name brand parts including: New Mobil 1 synthetic oil change New AC Delco oil filter Recent AC Delco air filter New AC Delco cabin air filter New GM throttle body assembly New MAF sensor cleaning New AC Delco platinum spark plugs New GM timing chains replacement job including all three timing chains, all four camshaft actuators, all three tensioners, all six chain guides, both idler sprockets plus assorted gaskets and seals New Prestone DexCool coolant flush and change New AC Delco Dexron VI transmission fluid change New AC Delco transmission filter New AC Delco transmission pan gasket Recent front brake pads Recent front brake rotors Recent rear brake pads Recent rear brake rotors New Mobil 1 Synthetic rear axle fluid change New GM Limited Slip Axle Lubricant Additive Recent set of four Michelin Pilot Sport tires Photos of some of the parts replaced and service done: Oil change: Oil filter: Air filter: Cabin air filter: Throttle body: MAF sensor cleaning: Spark plugs with the proper amount of anti-seize on the threads: Timing chains replacement: Transmission fluid change: Transmission filter and pan gasket: Transmission with the pan off, super clean inside: Front brake pads: Front brake rotors: Rear brake pads: Rear brake rotors: Rear axle fluid change: Speaking of servicing, compared to many other luxury cars, the CTS is a low maintenance vehicle. It has hydraulic valve lifters that never need adjusting unlike some cars that need regular valve adjustments, it has platinum tipped spark plugs that last for 100,000 miles, transmission service intervals of 100,000 miles and coolant service intervals of 150,000 miles. So with all the recent servicing the car has received, other than routine oil and filter changes, you shouldn’t need to perform any maintenance for another 100,000 miles. This 2009 CTS is virtually identical to the new 2010 models so you can own and drive a vehicle with the looks and prestige of a new 2010 model at a fraction of the cost. In fact, because of the higher mileage, this ’09 CTS DI may be the cheapest one you will find until a few years of depreciation have reduced the prices of lower mileage ones to the level of this one. It could be a year or two before that happens, so if you’ve always wanted a new bodystyle 2009 CTS but thought you just didn’t quite have enough funds to purchase one, this car may just have your name on it. In other words, it’s going to take another year or two before the 30-40,000 mile CTS DI cars that you are looking at now for $32-35,000 depreciate down to the price of this CTS. So why wait that long? In a year or two their prices will be the same as mine are anyway, right now, so you might as well own and enjoy it right now! The sticker price new of this loaded 2009 CTS DI was over $53,000. CLICK HERE to see the original pricing, but because it was a hot selling model for ‘09, most dealers were adding additional market adjustment markups (read rip off), so the original owner of this car paid $55,479 plus $1,664.37 for 3% sales tax as shown on the title earlier, so with tax, title and tags, the buyer of this car wrote a check for well over $57,000! The NADA Blue Book price on the car, even with the higher miles, is over $32,000. CLICK HERE to see the Blue Book pricing. I have the Buy It Now price at over $9,000 below that amount! Most cars at this price point depreciate $5,000 the moment you drive it off the lot, another $5,000 during the first year of ownership, and the NADA deducts $5,800 for the mileage, yet I have the Buy It Now price at less than HALF of what the original owner paid for it new! That’s an almost unheard of price for a one model year old vehicle. If you are serious about buying a clean 2009 CTS DI in the most sought after color, this is about as low as they go. If you are looking for a nice new bodystyle CTS DI in great condition at a low price, then this car is hard to beat. Also remember that we don’t charge dealer processing fees or document fees that many other listings have for $200 or more and bury in their fine print. And don’t be fooled by some other auctions that are advertised as NO RESERVE and start at $100 or some other low price. Since no dealer is going to risk loosing thousands of dollars if their auction doesn’t bring enough money, you can be pretty sure he has some “people” bidding on it for him. Especially those auctions that are private listings where it says, “User ID kept private.” Also, because my reserve is close to the Buy It Now price, don’t think that you will get a much better deal if you just keep bidding it up instead of using B.I.N., especially if you need it delivered. I bought this car at a dealer auction during the winter when prices are traditionally lower to use as one of my personal drivers, and I’m passing on the savings in this auction. If instead of selling it back at a dealer auction I can sell it here on Ebay for a similar price and avoid dealer auction fees and transportation expenses, and the new owner gets the car at a true wholesale price, then both buyer and seller make out ahead. Remember, you can get a great deal on Ebay with prices sometimes way below retail, but no bidder is going to “steal” a vehicle and no seller is going to give one away either. TERMS OF THE AUCTION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Since this car may be advertised locally, auction can be canceled at any time (unless auction ended early with BUY IT NOW) due to prior sale without liability to any bidder. A down payment of $500 (plus any additional delivery charge) is required within 3 days of the close of the auction, balance due in cash or certified funds on delivery if I deliver it or you pick it up, or before it’s dropped off at the transporter if a shipping company is transporting it, but no later than 7 days after the close of the auction without prior agreement. I accept bank or certified checks, money orders, credit cards through PayPal (accepted for down payment only). If paying balance with funds other than cash, buyer to fax copy of monetary instrument no less than 24 hours before picking up vehicle. The car is sold as is. Buyer is welcome to inspect car BEFORE the end of the auction or to have someone check it out on your behalf provided you authorize whoever is checking the car to provide me with a copy of the results. I have tried to accurately describe this car, both mechanically and cosmetically but you can expect a certain amount of minor flaws on ANY used car including squeaks, rattles, nicks, chips, scratches, blemishes and any other marks that are consistent with the age and mileage of the vehicle. There is no possible way to include all minute details and imperfections, however, I believe my listing accurately depicts this vehicle and if there are any issues they are noted in the description. In fairness to all bidders the reserve price will not be disclosed so please don’t even ask. Buyer responsible for transportation and car must be paid for in full before it can be released. May deliver. Email or call for delivery quote or for any other questions. atikovi@email.com Maryland and District of Columbia dealer. Phone 202-246-5201. Do not bid if you don’t intend to buy. FREE DELIVERY TERMS: Free delivery within 500 miles of the Washington DC area if bidder purchases vehicle with Buy It Now. (35 cents per mile for additional miles as shown in MapQuest.com from zip code 20001 to your address.) That is still the same rate as when I started on Ebay over 10 years ago. Remember, the Buy It Now option disappears once the reserve price is met. The Buy It Now price is $22,995. AUCTION ENDS: 10:00pm sharp, EASTERN TIME Sunday September 19th unless Buy It Now is used.On Sep-17-10 at 20:15:54 PDT, seller added the following information: I lowered reserve and dropped the Buy It Now price $500.
