OK, lets get something straight up front. If you have no intention of completing the sale then DO NOT BID ON THIS CAR. We are having to re-list this a third time because people think it's fun to bid and then not complete the purchase. This is a great car. if you have any questions feel free to ask them. Selling a low mileage 1978 Mercedes Benz 450 SL Roadster with both the hard top and the soft top. The reserve on this car is less than 40% of the low book value. This car would book for $12000.00 This car has been extremely well maintained and runs great.This California car has a body that is solid with no rust or rot found anywhere. This car can be a daily driver as is or with just a little work you have a really pristine classic car. The Good: Bright Bronze color is a real head turner. Body very straight. No rust or dents. Air conditioner compressor replaced in '08. Air works great and blows very cold. Master cylinder replaced in '08. New front disc just installed with new wear sensors. Outer front wheel bearings replace last month with brakes. Car runs strong and drives great as a Mercedes is expected to. Good tires. Includes Repair manual as well as original owners and service manuals. Just passed California Smog with flying colors. All fee's paid with current registration good until July 2011. The Bad: The hardtop was stored incorrectly and the clear coat fogged and flaked. Paint has some clear coat checking on front hood and fender that you really have to look close to see. Drivers seat has tear along side edge of back. See picture with door open next to seat belt. Soft top has dry rot at rear sides from lack of use. top is good except for tears at back by the windows. Odometer just stopped working. paperwork shows it was close in '08 when last owner had it serviced. Power Antenna does not fully retract. I am the third owner and would love to really fix this classic up but time and resources demand that I sell (also wife says something has to go) Please feel free to ask any questions or for additional pictures.
