Vehicle Detail
Up for your consideration is this 1968 Chevrolet Impala Convertable. I purchased this example of automotive history six and a half years ago with the intention of restoring it after the kids were through college. Unfortunately, my wife has come to the odd conclusion that garages are for parking purposes and now it is time to make space. I purchased the car in 2004 for a little over $4000 dollars. As much as I'd like to see that amount in return, I realize the economy is not what it was. So, I'll start the bidding low with no reserve and spin the wheel, figuratively speaking. In return, I'd ask that you bid only if you are serious about purchasing the car and that sufficient funds are readily available to you. Here are some details about the car: The odometer reads 51897. I was told when I purchased the car this was the actual milage. I can not confirm this but from looking around the vehicle it is quite possible. The car is in need of a complete restoration. The power top is not operational. The hydraulic pump seems to work but the system leaks badly. The seats need to be reupholstered and many detail items need to be repaired/refinished/replaced. There is extensive rust on the body of the car as you can see in the photos, but the car is structually very sound. I drove this car often durning the summer months the first couple of years. It ran and drove like dream. And despite the rust I used to get complements every time I drove it. I still start the car from time to time to keep oil circulating the engine. It will need a battery soon and the breaks are now acting up and the tires are in very poor condition. In short, she isn't road worthy as she sits. Over all, the aftermarket parts availability, the condition of this car, and the NADA high value(nadaguides.com), if you were to fully restore this car, of $26,200, make me of the opinion that restoration of this classic beauty is not only viable but could also be lucrative.
