Vehicle Detail
This car is loaded with power seats, power mirrors, leather, power windows, excellent air conditioning, new front tires, very good rear tires. Newly charged AC, new battery, new alternator, new converter and more. Engine rebuilt prior to my purchase by factory trained Mercedes master mechanic. My purchase $6,000, investment post purchase $4,500, total investment $10,500. Mercedes 420 SEL runs strong and is much better than one that has been sitting. I have driven this car up to 140 miles per hour for distance. This is the only type of car I would do that in and she was magnificent. Car was a road trip car between Arizona and California and locally driven for business. The car has 188,000 miles, but runs like it has 60,000 miles. This model and year have been known to go up to 1-million miles with a little love. Very comfortable on the freeway and gets respectable gas mileage at 20+ miles per gallon freeway. Acceleration is excellent from roll-out or in freeway passing. This car is unique even to Mercedes of its vintage, even compared to cars of the same model and year. She is just a work horse made of German steel. This car was taken care of by its original owner. A/C: Cruise Control, Power Locks, Power Steering, Bucket Seats, Leather Interior, Power Seats, Airbag: Driver, Airbag: Passenger, Alarm, Anti-Lock Brakes, Fog Lights, CD Radio, Premium Sound, Power Windows, Rear Window Defroster, Sunroof/Moonroof I have purchased a newer pre-owned car. I could hold onto this one. This car was purchased from a close friend, the mechanic who rebuilt her. It was the last Mercedes he rebuilt after working on only Mercedes his entire career starting in the factory in Germany. He took care of her prior to purchase and following purchase for a period of years. I have owned the car since 2004, more or less and it was a second car for road trips to the ocean cities of Orange County and beyond. I purchased at 115,000 miles and now she has 188,000 miles. The car is well-known in Southern California due to a race down Sunset Boulevard with a new Rolls Royce Phantom and a few newer model Mercedes and BMWs, she won. That was a little over a year ago. As Klaus (the mechanic) says, "there aint nothin like a Mercedes", especially when you know the road. Well built, low center of gravity, powerful, excellent brakes. On Sep-10-10 at 21:23:22 PDT, seller added the following information: I encourage everyone to get the bidding moving on this car. I know the Ebay rules, but I also know my legal rights and I will only sell the car if the price reaches a respectable level. I have to sign over title and a bill of sale and at this price, I will hold. I encourage everyone to get the bidding moving as this is a good car. This Mercedes will take more than the current bidding level to close. I have done these auctions before and they often go flat while bidders expend the clock. That works as long as the bidding picks up which is what it has done in prior auctions. I prefer to let this auction go the distance so lets pick up the pace. Good luck in your bids on this timeless classic and feel free to give me a call.
