Vehicle Detail

Great bike to either restore or just ride and enjoy it as it is with it's well earned patina! This very cool vintage BMW is completely rideable as is and it is completely functional. It hasn't been registered since 2006 though, although I have been riding it around the block lately just to keep her moving. I intended to restore it, but too many other projects in the way. Anyhow, here is some more info: Has 65k miles on it....speedo needle itself is broke, but odo still works and so does the tachometer. All warning lights, headlights, horn, and turn signals work as they should. All controls are intact and work except for the choke cables are not hooked up, but the are present and all there. (starts fine without them) There are no mirrors on the bike. Front tire is showing some sidewall cracking, but I wouldn't hesitate to ride it home this way. Back tire is great. Exhaust system is rusty....it has a hole in the back muffler on the right side but isn't too loud at all. The inside of the gas tank is not rusty at all, but the top of the tank has some hail damage on it...pretty minor though. Sides of tank are great....no dents. Knee pads in place. Still has the factory tool bag, air pump and tool tray (not always the case with these old BMW's and the correct tools are pretty handy to have on these models) The right side fuel petcock outlet is broke...it is an easy repair. The left side petcock works fine and I have been riding with just this one with no problems. Only thing missing on the whole bike originally is the correct battery hold downs. Battery is brand new. Very minor oil leak from oil pan....easily repaired with new seal or possibly just snugging the bolts up? Bike runs Very smooth and solid....has no carb issues at all and goes down the road great. Brakes work fine. Only thing not original on the bike is the seat cover....it has been replaced. No rips or tears on this one. Original BMW crash bars still in place 4 speed transmission and clutch shift great....no issues The center stand springs are missing so it is tied up....it does however work fine, just needs some new springs. Fiberglass fenders have some scratches but no cracks....Original Black Beauty paint on everything! I do have some service history in the owners manual from previous owner....also comes with Clymers Repair Manual. Comes with 2 extra oil filters, fork oil, points, and condeser.....all factory BMW items. I also have the rear luggage/bag rack....it has been repaird before and the chrome is bad however. Definetely could be fixed and re-used as these are kinda rare. Also have a big ol' ugly fairing that goes with it....would some work to get it back in shape but I do have all the brackets, etc. This bike is completely rideable the way it is or would be an excellent and easy candidate for a restoration.
