Vehicle Detail

Rare and Ultra Streamlined: A 1950 Nash Airflyte Coupe. These Nash Airflyte Coupes look like 50's Custom Jobs (and many were further Chopped & Customized back in the day) because they're so radically factory streamlined. Hardly ever seen today, even at Nash Shows. This one is a super solid California Survivor, recently awakened from long-term dry storage. Freshly-serviced, it runs and drives. Enjoy it while you fix up the cosmetics, or just freshen it as desired and use it. If you win the bid, you could trailer it or consider driving it back home. I am listing it for an elderly friend, but I'm familiar with this car. It was produced by Nash-Kelvinator Corporation at their El Segundo, CA plant and sold new in California. It's been well cared for and stored inside. Two different antique service stickers on the drivers door indicate its mileage as 33,659 miles in 1962, and 43,910 in 1978. It's a correct matching-number car with its original engine and column-shift three-speed transmission. It spent most of its life in California, has its original California black plate up front and is being sold with its vintage California "pink slip" Title. Includes original owners manual, jack and tools. Super Solid Original Car. One exterior body re-paint many years ago, now faded down. No bondo found anywhere. The doors, hood and trunk all fit well. No structural rust found anywhere. I've only found a few small areas of corrosion - all superficial and easily repaired whenever the car gets repainted. Original chrome and stainless trim. Exceptional example, but needs full restoration. Or sympathetically restore it as a driver. Wonderful 50's Jet-Age style dash. Central Pod (seen on top of the steering column) contains speedo & gauges, and the center dashboard radio console has a stainless pull-down cover (as shown pulled part way down in one of the photos). The Nash six cylinder engine fires immediately, runs smooth & quiet, and holds excellent oil pressure. Gives excellent fuel economy. Never altered from its original 6-volt system. The steering is light and the clutch is buttery-smooth. Five nice Goodyear Power Streak tires. If you have questions, do ask them before this auction closes. I'll try to answer any questions that you may have. I can be reached at 615-497-5530. Please feel free to email or phone before you bid if I can be of help to you. Better yet, I encourage you to make arrangements to personally inspect this Nash Coupe to make certain it fulfills your standards. Please comprehend the requirements of this auction before you bid; a winning bid is a contract to buy this car. I request Non-USA bidders and bidders with zero feedback, to contact me before bidding. There is no warranty of any kind on this vehicle and this car is being sold "As is, Where is" Nashville, Tenn. Please do not bid unless you can meet the following requirements: 1) a $1000 Deposit must be paid within 72 hours of the auction's end AND 2) the remainder of the funds required to conclude this transaction must be paid in full within 10 days of auction's end. Payment with personal check, cashier's check or certified check will result in the car being held until the owner is certain the funds are available to him. Transport loading is no problem at all. I'll work with your designated transporter to assure a smooth, hassle-free pick up. Though there are many competent transport companies, I've had excellent results with one here in our area. Classic Car Carrier can be reached at 109settle@comcast.net for a quote. Thanks for your interest. On Sep-04-10 at 06:59:56 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks for all of the inquiries regarding this Nash Coupe. Before you bid, please remember what is written in the above description: "needs full restoration". That's why it's reserve was only $2500. If you are seeking a fully-sorted, turn-key, ready-to-go collector car, then this vehicle is not for you. If you lack the ability, budget or wherewithal to repair the many components of a 60-year old car, which will no doubt require repair & attention, then this vehicle is not for you. Please do not bid if you are unfamiliar with the involved process of restoring antique cars. Thank you.
