For 2005, Viper gets two new colors: yellow and, due later in the year, Copperhead Orange. Performance The heart of the Viper is an aluminum-block 8.3-liter V10 engine. It can generate an incredible 500 horsepower and 525 lb-ft of torque-90 percent of the torque available in the 1500-to-5600 rpm range. Transferring the Viper's power to the rear wheels is a heavy-duty 6-speed manual transmission. It has a short-throw shifter so that you can get up to speed very, very quickly. Further features aiding the Viper's performance include four-wheel independent suspension featuring lightweight, high-performance aluminum control arms and knuckles, damped by lightweight coil-over shock absorbers. A Dana 44-4 Hydra-Lock speed-sensing limited-slip differential is also standard.
