Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1974 VW Beetle Love Bug edition, I have owned this car since 1991 and it was mostly restored at that time over a period of about eight years using parts sent from my aunt in Germany from VW. The car was painted around 1995 and it was not an impressive job, not bad, but the painter did allow overspray to go through the engine vent and get on the air cleaner housing and the shade of paint was slightly off from the original red / orange that I wanted. The car has been garaged since 1991. I drove it on Sundays for 2 years from 2002-2004 putting about 200 miles on it over the 20 years I owned it. It started to show a couple of bubbles on it so I lightly sanded them down to show that it is only very mild surface rust in about three spots (see pics) . The engine is the original 1600 dual-port and runs fine. Last started in the spring with a borrowed battery from another car. Since then I removed the gas tank and battery to inspect the front suspension. I'm certain there will be no problem starting the motor, I started it every couple of months for the last 15 years to keep things lubed up, etc. It has new fuel pump, carb was rebuilt, new distributor about three years ago, etc. Anyway, This is a great project that needs finished. I haven't had the time over the last 20 years and I probably won't have the time anytime soon, so I'm going to see if someone else wants to finish it. All it really needs is a good carpet set and probably a good paint job. The carpet that I bought was aweful so I removed most of it and threw it out. The floor bords look good. The tires still look brand new as do the brakes. Wheels are in great shape including the spare. The seats are in great shape with a cool velour middle to them, I think that may be the Love bug package? I'm not a VW mechanic. The car is described to the best of my ablity. Enjoy the pictures and happy bidding! The car would have to be hauled since it's in some pieces. Car does include several new (ie 2 exhaust systems new in the box) and used spare parts that you'll want, not junk. I'd be glad to answer questions to the best of my ability. I don't "have to sell" this car, so please don't make me any ridiculous low offers!!!
