Vehicle Detail

Welcome to my auction for my '72 MGB Roadster. I bought this car two years ago. I drove the car for about three months, it pulled very strong throughout the gears, no smoke or overheating. I then put it in the body shop and began a bare metal respray restoration. The car was taken down to bare metal and then the car was worked on for about a year. The bodyshop replaced the lower panels with new sheetmetal and the front and rear valance were straightened out. The engine compartment was detailed and repainted in black with red accents. The car has an aluminum hood, which is not correct to the year, but does give a weight savings. I intended to restore the car to driver status, so the engine compartment color is not correct, but it does look very clean. I intended to restore it to look older than '72, the grill and front bumper is earlier. The paint came out great and it really shines, that's clouds reflecting in the paint so you can see how shiny and straight it is. Total bill for the paint and body was over $4,000. The previous owner had just spent over $3,000 on mechanicals. Specifically, front end work, new lower A arms and bushings, new front brakes, tune up, new fuel tank and lines, new rear leaf springs. I added a new Lucas sport coil and a new positive battery cable and a new four core oil cooler. The car sat at the body shop and now in an inside storage unit for almost two years. It turns over but will not start. I am sure it needs to have the carbs rebuilt and the fuel system cleaned, it has been sitting in Florida in the heat, but not weather, so the system is dirty. Additionally, the clutch slave leaked, I have the rebuild kit for the clutch slave and master and will include that and many new parts as well. The car does have the convertible top frame, but it will need a new top, not included. There is an AM/FM CD player installed with a detachable face and two speakers that are bolted to the battery covers. I am including these new in the box parts: Brand new carpet kit, black with a rolled edge on 17 pieces. (pictured) Brand new windshield, tinted, installed with a new gasket (pictured) if you know MGs you know how hard it was to replace! Brand new dashboard replacement, (pictured), not a cap, but a whole new dash! Brand new door panels, black with a chrome insert (pictured) Brand new running boards in chrome with MG logo Brand new leather gear shift knob, black with red logo Brand new shifter chrome ring Brand new ashtray replacement Brand new rear MG and MGB logo chrome Brand new totally disappearing antenna for the right front fender The car is mostly complete, I will list the parts that are needed to complete the restoration: Convertible vinyl top Wire Wheels (5) need to be painted Tires Stainless Steel waist trim Some rubber gaskets and seals Door locks and glove box lock One headlight bucket was thrown out Center console needs replacing Rear shock conversion This car is an ideal fall/winter project for someone that wants to just assemble a car. The heavy lifting is done. This car will be a joy to own and will give many smiles per mile once completed. I have owned a bunch of these cars and I bought this one to keep for myself, but I no longer have the time to finish this car. I have tried to describe the car's condition to the best of my ability, but I'm happy to answer any questions here or at the number below. I will require a $1,000 deposit within 48 hours of the auction ending. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I hold clear Florida Title. Call me with any questions or to schedule a viewing in Riviera Beach, Florida, Goose 561-543-7435. I will take foreign bids, but will only accept wire transfers or will wait for a Cashier's Check to clear before releasing the car. I will help with shipping arrangements at the bidder's expense.
