Vehicle Detail
1981 VW rabbit pick up. This one was a barn find in Colorado. Less than 100,000 miles, and I actually registered it from the original title from the original owner. This is the 6th VW pick up I have rebuilt, half of which have been sold on Ebay. I also have done a fair amount of conversions to vegetable oil and drove one of these converted for about 4 years. If you are interested in making a conversion I can help...also I have some veg kit parts so I might be able to save you some money. Truck has had a lot of work done to it as you can see. I have included some of the original pics as well. This is not a show truck and could still use a few parts to make it really nice. I live in a small town and could not find the rest of the parts I needed to finish it. None of which effect the ability to drive it home. I am also starting school in the next few weeks and do not have time to work on it any more. The last one I sold on ebay went for $5400. Common question: what are the strut towers like....they are excellent. You can see in one of the photos from the inside that there is some surface rust. I assure you it is only surface rust. You can see from the other pics that I had that quarter panel off and everything from the inside looks great. Like I said it was in a barn for a long time and was a very dry and well kept body. There are some small dents here and there that I missed before I primed it. Also the trim track has been filled in as that stuff is a pain to work with and cracks and looks poor after a few years in the sun. Original VW keys, GTI grill, door cards have speaker holes in them, ( I wish people would stop doing that), full size mounted spare on aluminum wheel, The paint. This is a one of a kind paint job. It is a sigma II coating that was originally designed for heavy duty metal coating applications. It has iron flake in it. Not chrome metal flake but actual raw iron flake. I think it was supposed to give texture. I thinned it way down and settled out most of the metal. When you look close you can see the sparkle of the flake but it is a satin kind of finish. It looks awesome. Truck bed liner is a "Herculiner" newest pics make it look kind of dusty but it has never been used to haul anything so it is flawless. I have the original maintenance book and all receipts and paper work from the things I replaced. Also I for got to add that I have a topper for it. The topper is in excellent condition, topper is included in the sale so long as it makes the reserve. I have the truck for sale locally and may cancel any time. If you have question or you want to come and drive it call me 773-799-4814 Russ Here is what you need to know. The following has been replaced with new parts: battery Air Filter CV joint (pass side) Alternator Drive belt (timing belt) Wipers Fuel filter Tires (brand new 10 miles maybe) Lug bolts Head Gasket Paint/body work. Here are the things I could not find: Needs rear bumper Head liner Radio
