We purchased this 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee from my father-in-law for a car for our daughter twith the understanding that if she wasn't driving than we wouldn't keep it since we already have another car for her siblings. The kids hate to see it go simply because it was their grandfather's and they know how much he loves the car. My father-in-law was the original owner. We bought it from him at the beginning of the summer with 203, 380 miles on the odometer so we have only put a little over 1,000 miles on the car. The Jeep has been meticulously maintained locally by the same mechanic who takes care of all of our cars since it was new. The oil has been changed EVERY 3,000 miles and I have the complete documentation of every service performed on the car since new. These records can go with the new owner. Let's just say that my FIL is fastidious when it comes to maintenance. He also kept it garaged. The most recent service at 204,000 miles was a routine oil, lube & filter as well as checking the brakes and 4 wheels, adjusting the parking brake, rotating tires, balancing 2 tires and replacing the rear wiper blade. The mechanic made a note (as is typical for him) to check the brakes in 7,500 miles. The paint still shines although there are the usual road dings to be expected on a car with this mileage but absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. The engine starts every time and accelerates well. Under braking the car tracks true with no vibration or pull. All in all this is an excellent car that we have hemmed and hawed about selling but we just can't justify keeping it with our daughter going overseas. Be sure to check the vehicle report. There are no marks against this car at all. The Jeep is being sold as-is but it did pass a Maryland Inspection without needing a thing when we had it registered 4 months ago. For what it's worth the car that my father-in-law owned prior to this was a Jeep Cherokee. When he sold this to us he replaced it with a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited that he hopes to put another 200,000 miles on. The best of luck to you!!
