I am relisting this car as the original sale fell through. I am the second titled owner of this car. I originally bought and put together this car to replace my 80 Rabbit used for SCCA Street Prepared autocross. Somewhere in the time it took to put it together I lost interest in autocross and now have this car up for sale. THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN RACED. However it is setup with autocross in mind and any modifications were made to the SCCA rules for street prepared. I have only driven the car locally and less than 50 miles after a nearly complete mechanical rebuild. This car is mechanically new. Engine: 84 GTI engine with less than 100 miles since rebuild Head was built by VeeTech racing engines with all new factory components New stock cam, springs (triple GTI springs), retainers, keepers, valves, guides, shims, etc. The valve seat cut angles (3-angle) are all factory angles. The guides have been tapered for flow. The ports have been matched to the manifold. The intake manifold is stock GTI but has been port matched to the head as well as to a Audi 5000 throttle body The crank, rods, and bearings are all from BSI racing, machined and balanced with ARP bolts. The pistons are Mahle 1mm over (.040”) Cylinders were honed with a torque plate in place 16 valve lower windage tray, stock later model upper (cam) windage tray Ignition – Not New Factory distributor with a faster advance curve, MSD 6AL box MSD tach adapter to trigger the stock tach MSD Blaster 2 coil Mallory wires. The fuel injection is stock with new injectors, head inserts, pump, and filter. K&N air filter – Not New Bellevue Tri-Y type Header – Not New Eurosport race exhaust – New Transmission and Clutch: All with less than 100 miles Correct GTI close ratio built by BSI racing in Florida Quaife differential Stock clutch disc with a 16 valve pressure plate Flywheel resurfaced and lightened stock GTI Suspension and Brakes: All parts listed have less than 100 miles unless noted as “Not New” Suspension pivot bushings all BSI Racing Derin Rack mount and rear shock mounts are Eurosport urethane Strut mounts - stock, mounting holes slotted for additional camber Techtonics lower 4-point stress bar – Not New Koni adjustable sport struts Bogie Pro-Gas rear shocks – Not New rear springs - Neuspeed progressive sport springs – Not New (I have and will include the matching front springs) Custom, 240 lb/in single rate front springs New axles and CV joints New tie rod ends and ball joints Rear sway bar (anti-roll) from BSI racing – Not New (In addition to stock sway bar) New stock calipers New wheel cylinders and rear hardware Hawk front pads Brake lines are all new and have been rerouted to make the system a front-rear split rather than diagonal. There is an adjustable proportioning valve on the rear system. The flexible lines are all braided stainless from BSI. Wheels and Tires: Wheels are stock and the tires are poor. I have two sets of wheels and tires for autocross that will be listed separately. If the winner of this auction is interested in the other wheels and tires we can arrange a deal to buy them separately. Body: Small dent at the back near the hatch see picture At the bottom front edge of the passenger door there is a small amount of rust, see pictures. The driver’s side door is solid The windshield is cracked, and there is some rust below the lower edge, see pictures The rest of the body and floors are solid Paint is stock and faded, with minor door dings and normal wear for a 27 year old car The interior shows some wear on the carpeting and drivers seat, and there is a small seam split in the rear seat On Jul-11-10 at 07:47:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Added 7/11/10: This was an air conditioned car, however none of the components other than in the dash remain.
