1962 Thunderbird Classic Up for auction is a "Triple Black" 62 Thunderbird with Landau roof, less then 1500 made. This is a car that was restored in November of 2006, used for a couple of years for car shows and local cruising , racking up 500 miles of use and then retired into storage untill present. During its restoration, which started out with a very solid body, floor boards and frame, the original 390 motor was completly overhauled, as well as the C-6 transmission. The car is in superb mechanical condtion and floats down the road, for a typical Thunderbird ride. The steering is tight and the brake system which has been changed from Master cylinder to Power Booster, wheel cylinders and brake linings, provide excellent stopping. Tires have less ten 1000 miles on them. There was also a Base / Clear Coat paint job done during restoration and still makes it a trophy winner at any car show. The leather interior, dash board and headliner all show well. The only weak point of the interior is the dashboard pad, not cracked apart but just some warpage by the defroster vents, from the heat of the sun. A new pad would complete a pristine interior. All light's and controls are working properly. The Air Condtioning was working prior to sitting in storage, but has been diagnosed as a tired compressor, so a new compressor has been suggested for replacement. Inspection or a road test of the vehicle is welcomed and can be arranged by calling Ralphs Old Cars in Sarasota, Florida, where the car is presently being stored.
