Vehicle Detail

Check this out - 1986 Honda V65 Magna with under 20,000 miles! In 1985 my friend Jerry and I went for a ride - me on my Yamaha Virago and him on his new V65. We were flying down a country road when Jerry waved bye-bye and left me in the dust. The V65 was the ultimate power cruiser of its time and still is considered by many to be one of the best motorcycles ever made. It was, and is, a mechanical workhorse - liquid cooled V-4, shaft drive, 6 speed transmission - and was the fastest production motorcycle from 1985 through 1990. The overdrive makes highway cruising a dream! This bike has been well cared for but has some signs of age. The chrome looks great, no significant dents or dings except as listed below, and the tires have plenty of tread left on them. Check out the pictures. This bike starts on the first push of the button and is ready to ride almost immediately. The full Aero fairing is bulky looking, but provides amazing protection from the wind as well as ample storage in two locking compartments. It has highway pegs on a chrome mounting and is one of the most comfortable bikes I have ever ridden. Research the bike and you will see nothing but praise. However..... While the bike mechanically sound I was told the cam tensioner needs work. You can hear it rattle a little when running. My plan was to drop it at the Honda dealer at the end of the season but my dream bike came up for sale so I won't be getting that done before selling, which is reflected in the low reserve price. I occasionally feel a little wobble in the front at very low speeds which a mechanic friend suggested was probably due to the large fairing - you can't take your hands of the bars. It's not a big deal but I wanted to mention it. The seat, as you may have noticed, is covered in attractive black duct tape. I was going to replace it as well with a new Corbin, but it is comfortable to ride as is so you can decide what you want to do. There are plenty of seats out there if you want to swap it out. The previous owner was a bit of a gear head and put on a sissy bar and luggage rack as well as the fairing. While it is obviously not a stock job, it is very functional and I have grown to appreciate it. You can remove it easily, although the fairing is hardwired so it will take a little more know-how, if you don't want it. A previous owner apparently dropped it, denting the left pipe on the center stand. Other than that no major dents. The Magna was also known for sometimes having cooling fan problems so I fixed this by installing a flush-mounted switch that turns the fan on and off. Works like a charm. I take a lot of pride in being a straight shooter in everything I sell. This bike will need some work to be perfect, but I have been riding it all season with no problems. With the work I was going to put into it I could easily sell it for $3000 or more due to the low miles and excellent condition. I'm selling it for much less than that so you can do the work or have it done and have an amazing motorcycle to last for years. If you are in the area come check it out, listen to it run, have a mechanic look it over, whatever makes you comfortable. You can drive behind and I'll put it through it's paces but due to insurance reasons no test rides unless you have current motorcycle insurance which will cover you and my bike - I will need proof of this - and you will have to sign something to the effect that you are responsible for any damages. I'm sure you understand. But please do whatever you need to feel comfortable before bidding. Ask questions, do your homework and good luck!
