Vehicle Detail

THE 1968 CADILLAC DEVILLESERIES 68-683, MODEL 68367-F, 2-DOOR CONVERTIBLEVIN F8269255 Only about 18,000 ’68 convertibles were ever made. If you are familiar with the traditional classic car #1 thru #6 ratings, #1 being an absolute 1000-point concourse car and #6 being a drivable bucket of bolts, I’d call this car a #2 minus. This is a driver not a show car, however, at a higher level than most drivers. To the best of my knowledge everything works as it should. This car has been garaged its whole life and shows no signs of body rust. The body is laser straight with no dings or scratches; the paint is glossy, vibrant and strong. The trim and bright work is all there and in very good shape, showing only moderate signs of age. The interior is nicely redone and the convertible top is virtually new having been replaced just a few years ago. Tires were replaced at the same time and they show little if any tread wear. The A/C has not been charged, but is presumed to function. Overall, the fit and finish of this classic Caddy is excellent. This is a solid car that is in far better condition than what you'd expect from a driver quality vehicle, although inspection will certainly show signs of natural aging. The 472 cubic inch V8 motor is strong and runs well, but cosmetically shows its age, having not been highly detailed. This has been a fun cruiser for me, not a show car and as such, I haven’t felt the need to address cosmetics under the hood. Functionally, it’s all there and pulls hard. The only area on the car that I can find a true mar, more than just wear and tear, is a pair of scratches about an inch long in the chrome on the top of the front bumper on either side of the license plate. The last picture in the ad shows the worse of the two. This is an easy and inexpensive fix, though, as good chroming services can be found in all parts of the country. If you are looking for a Sunday cruiser that is nice enough to get a “wow!” but not so perfect that you feel guilty pulling it out of the garage, this is your Caddy. If you are intent on a show car, this could be the perfect candidate to start with. You would likely only need to polish or chrome some bright work and detail the motor to lay claim to the “Best of Show” trophy at your local car show. I pride my eBay reputation as a straight shooter. As such, I tend to be a harsher critic on my own items than most sellers. I welcome your inspection and will gladly send you more photos at whatever angles you desire. I have the car priced below market, as I don’t believe in wasting people’s time; either yours or mine. Because I price aggressively, most of my auctions end with the “buy it now” option, and inevitably I get calls from people saying that they were trying to wait out the auction and to call them if the buyer doesn’t pan out. I’ll tell you the same thing I tell them… if you see the right car at a fair price and it’s just what you want… Don’t wait! The new owner will buy this car "as is" with no warranties implied or expressed. Shipping, transport or pickup is your responsibility, although I will gladly assist with logistics. Call me and I’ll answer whatever questions I can, as directly as possible. Andy, 818-391-8527.
