Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is one of the nicest Honda CX500 Custom’s you will ever see. This 1981 model has 12,890 actual miles on the odometer, and has been my weekly rider for the past four and a half years. It has never failed to start, never let me down, consistently averaged 45-plus miles to the gallon, been a heck of a lot of fun to ride, and always elicits comments about how “new” it looks. The engine is smooth, quiet, and does not burn a drop of oil. The carburetors were overhauled and balanced at 10,565 miles; the valves were adjusted at 11,593 miles. Everything on this bike works as it should. It has been well cared for and maintained. The bike is in original stock condition, with the exception of the valve covers, which are off a CX500 Turbo (thus the black insert stripes), and the Street Shield faring. The Hondaline luggage rack with the “Then Came Bronson” adjustable backrest is original to the bike. I found a set of new old stock Hondaline engine guards and added them a couple of years ago. This spring I replaced the battery and the original tires with new Dunlops at 12,082 miles. Within the last couple of years both the speedometer and tachometer cables have been replaced, new rear brake shoes have been installed as well as a K&N air filter. I have the service records for the bike since I have owned it. It is ready to ride! The only “issues” with the bike are a couple of very minor cosmetic flaws: the left side cover has a crack along the bottom edge that someone epoxy glued years ago. The left engine guard and mirror have very minor scuffs due to the bike falling over in a parking lot while parked (both scuffs are hard to see) and some minor scrapes on the header pipes. To my knowledge the bike has never been down in an accident of any kind (I am the third owner). The bike has a clear title. Included with the bike are the original owner’s manual and tool kit, and a Clymer service manual. The bike is sold as is, where is. The winning bidder will need to make arrangements to have the bike picked up or shipped. Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
