Vehicle Detail

**LOW RESERVE** The reserve price is much lower than the buy it now price. This is a relist, the motorcycle I was waiting for finally arrived, so I have relisted now that I know I'll have something to ride! As you read this, please keep in mind that this is a 37 year old motorcycle that gets ridden every other weekend. I find it notable that it still looks awesome in the pics, and I didn't even wash it or wipe it down before I took them. 1972 Triumph Trident T150V, 5-speed with over $1000 in extra parts, documentation, manuals, etc. Bike is as close to stock as possible except for: 1) '69 gas tank (however, a genuine imported from England 70's breadbox comes with and is ready for painting); 2) Tri-Spark Digitial Electronic ignition; 3) Temporary aftermarket seat (however, the original seat comes with and is ready for restuffing, but it is for a U.S. model-tight fit);4) The completely useless "spider choke" cables have all been removed and the carbs plugged;5) Its missing the dual horns (never got around to getting those, but I think I have the high-end on in a box); and6) I added fork gaters...they're not stock, but they look cool. Can be cut off in <1 minute. It is pristine and runs like a Swiss watch. The bike just has a complete top-end rebuild completed at Big D cycles in Dallas approximately 1000 miles ago. I have spent the last 3 years meticulously rebuilding all aspects of the motorcycle except the crankcase. Once I got it running well, I just kept riding it. I have all the spare parts to turn it in to a bone-stock 1972 non-export model (breadbox tank and cafe handlebars). Full carb rebuilds, complete tear-down, powdercoated the rear swingarm, new chain...the list goes on and on. ***STARTS ON THE FIRST OR SECOND KICK*** I would be 100% comfortable riding this bike from Seattle to Miami (except that the riding position kicks my old butt). I've put about 4000 miles on it and it has performed flawlessly, even before the top-end rebuild. The only issues are that it seeps oil from the top end, however, these bikes seeped oil on the showroom floor, so I'm not sure if that would be called a "problem" or a "feature." It also has a bent handlebar riser, it has always had this since I first bought it. I believe you can pick up a replacement for around $65. I was planning on doing that when I installed the cafe bars, but alas, I like riding it too much to stop long enough to take care of that. I am selling this for the simple reason that I need the garage space for a new bike that will be arriving in late June. I was planning on keeping it, but as I get older, busier, and lazier, I'm thinking this motorcycle would look much cooler between the legs of some younger guy that's in to the old classics or is looking to get in to them. I encourage serious buyers to shoot me an email to take it for a test drive. LICENSE PLATE: If the buyer is willing to go down to the Southlake Tax Office, I will be willing to throw the '72 motorcycle license plate in with the bike. CARBS: This bike has the original Amal carbs. I have gone over these carbs and gotten them running perfect, if you intend on pulling these carbs off and replacing them with Mikunis, you are officially a tool who has no business owning an old British motorcycle in cherry condition. I HOPE TO SELL THIS TO SOMEONE WHO CAN APPRECIATE A STOCK MOTORCYCLE. IF SOME GOOF BUYS THIS BIKE AND CHOPS IT, IT WILL BE A TRAGEDY...VERY FEW OF THESE ARE RUNNING IN THIS CONDITION. ***ATTENTION NON-U.S. BIDDERS*** For some reason, the first time I listed this, I got an utter ton of inquiries from England and Australia. Basically, I don't care where you live, but if you bid on this bike, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL PACKING AND SHIPPING FROM MY GARAGE, AND THE BIKE MUST BE PAID IN FULL BEFORE I WILL RELEASE IT TO CRATE/PALLET. ****ATTENTION EBAY SHARKS**** I will not sell early, so please do not ask, it is very annoying. I am listing it on ebay for a reason, and that reason is that I'd like people to bid on it within a set time period. On Jul-27-10 at 23:08:22 PDT, seller added the following information: COMMON QUESTION ANSWERS: 1. Yes, the Engine and Frame VIN numbers match. "90% stock" means stock, mismatched engine/frame numbers would, most definitely, not be stock. 2. The left-hand side cover has some scratches from my bottle opener keyfob rubbing at speed. Sorry, but MADD can suck my ****...a bottle opener is a must-have when riding a motorcycle. If you disagree, then go wrap yourself in a mattress and buy a minivan...or, simply touch it up and stick with with watered-down domestic beer.On Jul-28-10 at 15:12:19 PDT, seller added the following information: ***INFORMATION ON PARTS*** The '71+ genuine English gas tanks easily fetch up to $1000 on ebay in the USA, it is a solid tank, no rust, and only has minor imperfections that can easily be fixed. I bought it from a guy in England, you simply cannot find them in the U.S. So, if someone were to simply put this bike back to stock U.S. model, with a peanut tank, they could easily make back $500-$1000 by ebaying the tank alone. I am including the parts out of part laziness, and part commitment to the machine; I simply don't think that the tank should be sold separately from the motorcycle, it would be very cool if it were painted and mounted to the motorcycle to complete the UK look.On Jul-30-10 at 09:28:52 PDT, seller added the following information: I was just looking at the left-hand side cover. The keyfob has rubbed a lot of the paint off. I'll try to get a pic and post it, but the lefthand sidecover will probably need to be repainted at some point. On Jul-30-10 at 13:23:26 PDT, seller added the following information: OK, just uploaded a pic of the scratched lefthand side cover. That is the ONLY blemish, that I know of, on this bike.
