Vehicle Detail
"CHARIOTS OF FIRE" 1948 Ford F-6 series 2 Ton Dually Pickup truck What once was a Ford F-6 2 ton firetruck, too large for a barn, is now a super "Macho" pickup truck that will fit in anybody's garage. Note "before" picture. Most pickups look like Tonka toys next to this one. Guess it's those 8:25X20 dully wheels on the back that give this a "King of the Road" stance. This jaw dropper comes ready to parade or to tempt some visionary to create an awesome tow truck. As with most classic firetrucks, low miles, excellent sheet metal and no rust made this a perfect choice to modify. Over 6 feet of vehicle length and over 3500 lbs of ugly fat were removed leaving a shortened wheel base of 126" and a "Don't mess with Texas" look. Was told by a previous owner that someone installed a factory updated 1957 - 292 "Y" block engine, an Edelbrock carburetor and new VDO gauges. The seat was reupholstered in black velour and new carpet and pad were installed. All this was done 10 - 15 years ago. Always starts and runs good. The two speed rear end is currently limited to one speed as the shifting linkage is disconnected. It has one brand new left front tire, and all others have lots of tread, solid and serviceable. Has a new battery and rebuilt starter. The spotlights and siren are not wired. Pickup bed has built in benches and tool storage compartment in forward half of both sides. Solid chrome plated brass bed rails. New west coast side mirrors with refurbished mounting brackets. Comes with original heater not currently installed. Has backup bell on rear wheel. It isn't perfect but it looks that way from 20 feet and most people are afraid to get any closer! Easy to drive because everthing gets out of its way! Some helpful dimensions for shipping are: Wheel base 126"--------Overall Length 18'3"--------Front wheel width outside sidewall to sidewall 67" -------- Rear wheel width outside sidewall to sidewall 87" ------------ Overall width at rear fenders 91" ---------- Overall height - 82 1/2"----------Weight unknown This is one eye-popping machine that looks good coming or going! A one of a kind conversion - there isn't one more like it anywhere! LOW RESERVE to ensure sale. Come see it if you can -- its HUNGRY for attention! Note: If you have negative feedback or a "0" feedback rating please e-mail me with some information that would indicate that you are a serious bidder so that your bid will not be disqualified. Sorry but there are some who just play games. Mileage incorrect because of installation of new speedometer. Shows 1200 miles Has a signed Illinois title
