This 1958 MGA was purchased by me in 1976 when I was fourteen years old. The black and white picture is of me and the car on the day I brought it home - the happiest day of my life at that point. It was the most beautiful car I had ever seen - and still think so today. The strange thing about the car is the addition of the Mercedes headlamps someone had neatly added as you can see in the photo. I never had the car on the road legally, but I did drive it around on old back roads for a time. Being young I started to take the car apart to restore it; being young I also was easily distracted and never really saw the project through. I dreamed about the car a lot and always thought that one day I would finish it. 34 years went by in the blink-of-an-eye while my old friend sat in the back of my dad's pole barn. I had neatly tucked all the parts up in the rafters of the barn, but sadly this was the perfect place for all manner of critters to find a home. While clearing out the parts to sell I found that all the carpet and upholstery was a loss. I know that this would be a difficult job to restore this car and hope that someone will find the courage that I once had. On Jul-28-10 at 03:57:15 PDT, seller added the following information: I was unable to locate any documentation to prove my ownership of this MGA. I contacted the Dept. of Motor Vehicles and was instructed to get a pencil rubbing of the VIN number to obtain a non-transferable registration until I was sent a transferable one. They told me it would be two months. I understand that the rules of proving ownership differ greatly from state to state. Here in NY I need to rub some paper with a pencil and bring cash. If you are interested in this car for parts this is no problem, if you would like to restore the car and get it back on the road you might be thinking twice about this car. I'm a fifth grade school teacher and deal in honesty everyday. I will make sure that you get the correct documentation from me if you need it for your state. If you want to take the car out of this country at the end of the sale – that would not be possible without getting the records you need, as I said, this will be a two month wait.
