Well, we have decided to downsize and upsize, and buy an RV to travel, and could use the space! We have decided to sell our “Presidential Car,” our 1966 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron. We have owned this car since 1968, and have decided that it is time for a new steward. The engine (440 V-8), transmission, and front end have been rebuilt in the last 10K miles (total of nearly $6,000, work was done in the early nineties). The car has 113K original miles on it, it had 18K when we bought it, and we have kept meticulous maintenance records on it over the years. Within the past couple months we have spent $4,500 on a complete brake system rebuild, complete fuel system rebuild, complete cooling system rebuild, tires, rebuilt power steering pump and gearbox, battery, cables, starter, compressor, tune up, belts, etc. We wanted to be able to jump in a drive it on road trips, just as in the past, then we decided to sell it, as we have no real use for it. The car had been unused except for a quick jaunt around town, from about the mid nineties till this year. But, as I said, it is time for the car to move on. It has been fun, cruising around again and getting all the thumbs up, etc. People want to take their picture with this car…it has an impressive presence! This is not a perfect car, the AC will not hold a charge for more than a week, and it has dual AC by the way. There is a small ding in the rear bumper on the driver’s side, which is in the pictures. There are few tiny paint chips in various places, which will not show up in pictures, and light fading on the roof and portions of the hood. Small crack by the dash vents, 1968 hubcap has been substituted on the front drivers side, due to original flying off. Half dollar sized area below rear window where paint has started to peel, as in pictures. There isn’t a hole, just surface rusting where the paint has chipped. Also, headliner must have shrunk, as it had separated above the rear seat, should be easily fixable. Also, the car has been getting progressively louder in the past several weeks of joyriding, looks like the exhaust is about due. There is noticeable wear on the drivers seat bottom cushion, a local leather shop said it can be easily rehabilitated and re-dyed, and that the dye color, which is called “pearlescent blue,” is available. The leather is in quite good shape, needs a good cleaning though. Oh, yes…NO RESERVE!!! Well, the reserve is actually 2 cents, the program would not allow me to enter zeros. I hope this car ends up in the right hands, and somebody walks away with a great deal. Anyway you slice it…somebody has the opportunity to STEAL this car. The car is completely as original, except for the impact strips on the sides, we added that to prevent dings, and it has been both effective and held up well! The car is currently plated, registered and driven almost daily. Please ask questions if needed, and bid what ever you think is appropriate, and you can afford. The buy it now is an option for somebody who wishes to purchase it outright.
