Vehicle Detail
1949 FORD CONVERTIBLE CUSTOM LEADSLED PROJECT, SECTIONED BODY...(BODY CUT IN TWO PIECES HORIZONTALLY ... 4" REMOVED ... THEN WELDED BACK TOGETHER)... CHOPPED (4") WINDSHIELD FRAME. CHEV 350 FROZEN ENGINE, 700-R4, NARROWED 71 CHEVELLE "SUBFRAME", 72 COMET 8" REAR, FRENCHED 53 MERC HEADLIGHT DOORS. 51 FORD FRONT FENDERS, HOOD, BUMPER, DASH, SMOOTH FENDER SKIRTS. Looking for that special person to finish this project. Is that you? This was last registered in 1961. At that time it was a custom car with leaded door handles and gas filler with bronze paint and gold scallops, before being nose-dived into a ditch at a T- intersection. It then spent 30 years in a Montana ranchers barnyard, where he cut it apart with a hacksaw and torch, and tried to braise it back together. He soon gave up and it set in 15% humidity for 30 years when I bought it and took over where he left off. It was taken apart made square, plumb, etc ; then welded with a mig welder. There are rust holes on the right rocker panel, and minor surface rust from the last year under a tarp. The car is solid, pretty straight and very unique.Boxes of parts go with it, such as dash trim, unchopped stainless trim for windshield and side windows, etc. Also there is an unchopped 1949 or 1950 steel convertible top with one piece missing, but all bows and header are present. It is possible to have folding chopped convertible top. I can explain how easy it is. Also included is a set of 10 way power BMW 730i leather seats, the rear seat should be easily narrowed to fit.I've had this car for 20 years and the last owner never found the title and Montana has no old registration records from the early 60's, so a bill of sale is all that can be given. The real serial # is not shown. Iowa and most other states have means of getting a bonded title. This car is being sold as is, where is; it must be picked up or I can deliver it for $1.25 per mile one way. This will be an awesome one of a kind vehicle when completed!!! Let's get it back on the road. 49 years is too long to wait for a project to be completed. This is also being sold locally so I reserve the right to end listing at any time. 1-319-638-3848 is my phone number 7am - 10 pm central time for any questions.
