Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a beautiful 1960 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. I’ve owned this caddy for 21 years since 1989. The original owner bought this car in 1960 at Gallas Motor in Albuquerque New Mexico; (still has dealer Badge on trunk..see pics) then in 1974 sold it to my Father in law. In 1989 he gave it to me. This car has remained in New Mexico all its life and except for a little paint bubbling above the passenger side fender skirt it is completely rust free. I have tried to keep this car totally original; through the years I have really enjoyed this car. It’s amazing how much attention it attracts on the road. I have invested a lot of time money and effort in the slow, consistent and unfinished restoration. This is not a show car it is a driver and continues to need more attention. I am more interested now in acquiring a 1980-82 corvette so I would like to place my caddy with someone who might finish the restoration and is willing to invest a little more time, money and Love to get it where it needs to be. I’ve got about 12 to $15,000 invested in this Caddy. I will try to keep the reserve much less than this. The Engine: The Engine is a 390 V8 and was rebuilt in 2009, has about 100 miles on it and runs strong. The transmission was also rebuilt in 2009 but didn’t stay right; it is not shifting properly…needs attention. I have replaced the: Water pump Master cylinder Generator (recently though the Gen light went on) Regulator Carburetor Exhaust system Paint and upholstery The paint This is an older paint restoration and even though it looks great in the pictures its got some scratches, scuffs, cracks and nicks throughout. I want to be honest about it. The red is an Imron paint. The White is Acrylic Enamel. The interior The interior is in excellent condition. Had it professionally upholstered to look as close to the original upholstery as possible….down to the buttons on the seats. Did the upholstery a few years back and still in great shape. The Electrical system: The headlights come on and work fine. the tail lights and signal lights work fine.. The original Am radio works, takes awhile to warm up since it’s a tube radio, and sometimes cuts in and out (maybe a loose connection…haven’t checked it). The clock does not work. The odometer does not work and stayed stuck at 74826 mi. this is how it was when I got the car. I estimate I’ve driven this car around 5000 miles since I got it in 1989. The gas guage seems to only go as high as ¼ tank (don’t know maybe needs a new float). The interior lights work, The trunk light works. The A/C does not work. I’ve never had it checked. Not that hot in New Mexico. The power windows work….sometimes a little slow. Power seat works. Power steering works. The glass The glass is in good shape. The windshield has no breaks cracks or pits but does have a little wiperblade rash on the passenger side. The Tires The tires need to be replaced, these tires have been on there since I inherited the car from my father in law. They seem to be tires from the 1970’s; kind of cracked but still hold air. Brakes Even though I replaced the master cylinder the brakes are kind of low and spungey. They may just need to be bled..not sure…don’t seem to see any leakage around the wheel cylinder areas. I think if someone gave the brakes, generator and transmission a little attention this Caddy would be perfect. A deposit of $500 via paypal will be required of the winning bidder within 48 hours. This is a nonrefundable deposit, which goes towards the full price, of which will be required within 7 days from end of auction. New owner will be responsible for all freight charges/pick up is o.k. Thanks for bidding, Have Fun and God Bless. On Jul-17-10 at 06:28:41 PDT, seller added the following information: recent conversation with my Father in law reveals not matching numbers. 390 replaced in 1987 with 1960 cadillac 390.
