Vehicle Detail
This is a 1988 Honda V45 Magna…known by aficionados as the Super Magna. This particular style of Magna, with raked out front end four upswept pipes is very distinctive and only produced 2 years. 1987 was a 700cc version, in 1988 the displacement grew to 750cc. Considered by many to be the most collectible years for Magnas, these have an almost cult-like following. If you’re not familiar with Magnas, they were the Performance Cruisers of the day. V-4 power in a high revving, compact package, these bikes were considered extremely quick but also easy to ride. Six speed tranny and shaft drive. Power is very tractable and will surprise many people, considering the engine size and the fact that it’s a 22 year old motorcycle. This site below is a hub of info for all things Super Magna, with some beautiful bikes and info on everything from production numbers to modifications. http://www.supermagna.com I bought this in from the second owner in Alaska and shipped it here in 2006… I just had to have it. He was meticulous in his care and maintenance and I carried on that tradition. Since then I’ve put around 1000 miles on it to bring total original miles to a little over 19K. Clearly my interest isn’t in riding it a lot… it’s become a garage queen and time for it to give way to some other toy. Mechanically it’s rock solid and ready to ride…no issues I know of. There are a number of modifications, some of which I may have forgotten. Custom base/clear coat paint, progressive fork springs, modified (firmer foam for comfort), seat with Super Magna logo stitched on back and color matched piping. Chrome covers on the radiator caps and faux air intakes. K&N air filter element, chrome gauge mount bracket, and a handlebar swap to replace the homely originals, which I have. It has an engine protector hoop with highway pegs. I also have a sport windshield and a passenger seat which I’ve never installed. I’ll also include the pictured dustcover. Cosmetics wise, it’s very nice… I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking. I doubt you’ll be disappointed, but in the interest of full disclosure I’ll list the defects I know about; Some very fine pitting on right mufflers. A small dent on the crash bar as shown in pictures. A small spider crack in the paint on right cover, difficult to capture it with camera, but visible upon close scrutiny. I’m willing to help with logistics of transport if you need it, but shipping cost will be borne by buyer. I’m also happy to talk about the bike and send you detailed pics if you’d like. Google Super Magna and you’ll get to lots of reading material. They are very cool and unusual bikes, sure to get some attention wherever you go.
