Vehicle Detail
I purchased this truck on ebay 5 years ago and will be sad to see it go...but, go it's gotta! My commute to work was a whopping 8 miles round trip and I drove the truck whenever I didn't ride my motorcycle....so mostly rainy days or cold days and here in Sarasota we don't have too many of either. I also used it to go to Home Depot or the Landscape Supply but I didn't put many miles on it and then in Nov 2008 I just didn't renew the tags. By then I had bought a Grand Wagoneer Jeep to pull a boat we bought that the little Ford just wasn't made to pull. So if you are buying or selling cars on ebay you probably know this song and have been where I am!!! OK The truck came to my as a good condition "driver". No show piece but very little rust and everything basically working as it should except the speedometer didn't and passenger window was cracked. The previous owner bought the truck off a farm in Illinois with less than 60,000 miles and said he never tried to fix the speedo when it stopped. (64,700) He did however perform maintenance and service on pretty much every moving part of the Truck. My plan was to drive it, which I did, and then eventually do a thorough cosmetic restoration. I found an original Ford passenger window and some VERY nice hood emblems, all three, front and both sides. One of the reasons I no longer want to finish the truck is that I don't fit in it.lol I am almost 6'3" tall and very large and I have to tilt my head to the side and my belly rubs the steering wheel!! Old trucks were not made for big men. I thought about going custom with it injected 5.0L V8 and a tilt/ telescopic steering column but the all original drivetrain was what attracted me to it in the first place. So it is someone elses turn!! The GOOD/BAD format seems as simple a way to describe what the pictures show as any. GOOD *Solid chassis, low miles did not squeak or rattle. *Motor runs like a sewing machine *Interior super clean original upholstery on seat is perfect *I will include extra emblems and new Passenger side window *Awesome price- I can't stand to let this truck sit out in the weather anymore *Could be driver again with minimal investment BAD *Not started in 7 months *Front tires dry rotted Rears are not old (12-18mos) but lose pressure in 2 weeks *Rust concerns Dr side cab corner/Front edge of hood/ and above rear window * Passenger door scraped on tree and mirror broken off *It has sat on my driveway since November 2008 I would not start driving without changing all fluids and checking everything. I was starting the truck up every so often and then it just got away from me. But even when it sat for only a month I knew I would have to drain the carburetor bowl and clean the points and it would start right up. The rear tires were replaced after the tag expired because the old ones rotted out but there must be pitting in the wheels or something because they go soft. The Florida title on a vehicle this old states MILEAGE NOT ACTUAL ebay makes you put a number there so 75000 was a guess. This vehicle is listed locally so I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END AUCTION EARLY. Well look at the pictures, write with any questions and Happy Bidding!!
