Vehicle Detail

PLEASE READ: I will be out of state while this auction runs so PLEASE DO NOT email me, instead call 419.422.1968 and ask for Doris, who will answer any questions you may have. She is my mother and the car is located at her residence in Findlay, Ohio. In addition, my brother Chris is available to answer any technical questions at the same number. My Dad and I bought this car from a showroom at a lot in Newark that sold classic cars. I drove it for two years and then some surface rust popped out around the wheel wells. My Dad cut the area out and cut metal sheeting out, getting ready to put it in. He was adamant that NO Bondo would be put into the car. At that point, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and began chemo. He had no energy to finish the car and passed away 6 months later. The car has been sitting ever since and has been started and left to idle periodically. It was driven around the neighborhood recently to make sure everything was okay. When we started it, some smoke blew out but we were told that it is probably because it had been sitting. The smoke never had appeared before. We are selling the car because I don't have a place to store it and also to help out my Mom, who needs the money. My Dad was meticulous about keeping cars. He has a handwritten record where everything, even an oil change was documented. The front seat was rebuilt and reupholstered in the original material. Aside from a little bit of touching up, the interior is in great condition. The metal that my Dad cut out to repair the rust is included in this auction. It's all ready to go and just needs welded in and painted over. Otherwise, the paint job is in great condition. The undercarriage is the problem. It will need some work done. Floor pans are needed if you plan on using it as a show car. If you just plan on driving it, you can probably get 10 years out of it as is. As far as the frame goes, there is a small amount of rust on the frame rail on the right side rear spring shackle and the bumper mount. I can recommend a man who lives in the same neighborhood where the car is located who repaired a car I once had that was in much worse shape than this. He was very reasonable and did great work. Also, the chrome is not rusty but has that stuff on it where it needs steel wool. You could stand to rechrome the bumpers if you wanted, but I think they look pretty good. It is a great runner! It's a three on the tree which makes it very fun to drive. Please call if you have any questions, 419.788.1016
