Vehicle Detail
We are sadly selling our beloved 1987 Mercedes Benz 300td Wagon. This is a legendary automobile, often called "the most reliable production car ever made", of which only 2600 were sold in the United States. In fact, this is the only car on the planet that seats 7, (like a minivan!), gets more than 30 MPG and runs on bio-diesel. If you want to immediately cut your carbon footprint, this is the car for you. This car puts out 30% less CO2 than a Prius. I searched and researched this car for 6 months all over the country and finally found her at a Mercedes Dealership. It turns out the multi-millionaire owner of the dealership used to drive this car to work every day. It was expertly maintained by their German technicians. I convinced him to sell his personal car for my family (3 kids!) and had it shipped to California. We've loved her. You can fold down all the seats and put a full sized couch in her. 7 adults can pile in, open the sunroof and go to the beach... She's got power on the highway and on the hills. Nice little touches like power seats and power headrests. I've been running her on B99 Biodiesel for 5 years with no problems and have driven her 600 miles roundtrip to San Diego regularly. So smooth on the highway.... Unfortunately, in the interest of full disclosure, she's got a few issues as well: - she has either a blown headgasket (quoted at $1800 to repair) or a cracked head (quoted as $4400 to repair) - she has a bit of rust on the passenger side underneath the door - original cassette deck/stereo is not working and has a broken antenna - rear passenger window does not work - doors are a bit squeaky and creaky Otherwise everything else in is in working order. She's a tank. I'm happy to let you speak with my mechanic and get all the info you need to make your purchase. I know she'll find a good home with someone who appreciates fine German engineering at it's height. Feel free to send me an questions you may have
