Vehicle Detail

Due to a recent job loss, I am selling my toys. I just bought this about a year ago. It was a great daily driver. This one is a 1981 Chevrolet Corvette. This is a very nice Vette. It has a stock 350 cubic inch 8 cylinder and a stock automatic transmission. This Vette really turns heads and has been a blast to drive. It doesn’t overheat or leak any oil, the trans shifts great, the power windows are very strong and the headlights even work like their supposed to. Engine re-sealed, steering rebuilt and new tires. You could drive it anywhere in the country when it was parked. I parked it in December and everything worked exactly as it was supposed to with the exception of the speedometer/odometer. That stopped working in September. The mileage shown is VERY close to the actual mileage - within a thousand miles easily. Ecklers sells the new speedo cable for $24.99. As soon as I (and my wife) came to the realization that money was getting too tight and the toys had to go I went out and checked the car over, washed it and took photos. The Good: - The interior is in good shape. - New shifter boot from Ecklers installed about 8 months ago. - New rear compartment door frame and covers from Ecklers about 8 months ago - Guages work as they should - Motor holds great oil pressure, alternator is charging fine and temperatures never get too hot - Door handles have been rebuilt and do not sag - Seats are in very good condition - Power driver seat, windows, and locks - Power steering and brakes - Mirrored T-tops do not leak - even in Florida rain storms - Brand new tires all the way around - 225/70R15 - Monza mufflers and exhaust tips installed by Previous Owner (PO). Sounds nice without being overbearing. - New A-arm bushings installed about 8 months ago - Suspension is nice and tight without excessive body movement or clunking - New steering linkage - pitman arm and tie rod ends - installed last fall - Steering is nice and tight - New front brake calipers and pads installed by PO - Engine gaskets and seals replaced last fall - rear main, oil pan, valve cover, intake - no oil leaks - New transmission filter, front seal, and torque converter replaced last fall - New steering cylinder installed last fall - New battery - The headlights work exactly as they should - Alternator installed last summer The Bad: - Passenger arm rest has pulled away from door, as shown in photo. This is common and Ecklers has a part to fix it for $7.99 part #A5320 - The A/C obviously has a leak in the system, as it worked very well when parked and does not blow cold now - compressor spins as it should - The switch to the windshield wipers does not work. I installed a seperate toggle switch and they work fine so the motor is good. - The paint is original and worn. It looks great from 10 feet, but has chips and weather cracks (crows feet) in the hood. Passable for a driver, but not for a show car - There are two very small cracks in the fiberglass on the driver side wheel wells - approx. 1.5" in the front and 2" in the rear - shown in photos - The transmission has a leak on the passenger side - The brakes felt soft so I checked the master cylinder and the rear bowl was empty Overall this is a very nice driver. The pictures accurately reflect the condition and were taken just the other day. If it weren't for the soft brakes, you could drive this car anywhere in the country. All of the repairs are very inexpensive and a paint job would net thousands. I don't want to sell the car short it is very nice, but I am very particular about my stuff and I am guessing you don't like surprises anymore than I do so I want to be honest. Feel free to contact me anytime. Due to rough economic times, I am also selling a race quad and my Jeep this week and therefore, will be checking my listings every evening. My buddy owns a car lot and will do the paperwork for us at no charge so that you will have a painless buying experience. You will be pleased with this Vette. I have reduced the Buy It Now price to reflect the fact that it will need a few basic repairs. The reserve is set very low as well. Shipping/pick-up is the sole responsibility of the buyer, but I will assist anyway I can. If the Vette is purchased at the Buy It Now price, I will deliver the vehicle within a fifty mile radius free of charge. I can store the vehicle free of charge for a few weeks if needed. The Vette does not leave until I have been paid in full and the money has cleared the bank - no exceptions. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to be paid via PayPal within 24 hours of auction's end. The winning bidder must also contact me within 24 hours of Auction's end and make arrangements for payment in full at that time. The remaining balance is due within 7 days of Auction's end. If NO contact is made within 24 hours or balance is not paid in full within 7 days, I reserve the right to re-list the vehicle, sell it to the next high bidder, or sell it otherwise. Vehicle is sold As-Is, no warranty expressed or implied.
