Vehicle Detail
1969 BMW R60US Full Dresser in EXCELLENT CONDITION, FACTORY ORIGINAL PERFECT PAINT, AND WITH ONLY 15,633 ACTUAL MILES!! These are the bikes that made BMW famous this is is the last year of the classic R60 series. The original matching numbers engine has been completely checked over by Bancroft Motor Works in Kinsman, Ohio and is 100% factory original. Starts easily on the first kick and settles into a smooth quiet idle. There are no mechanical issues, no smoke, no leaks, no noises; and runs perfectly on today's gasoline. All fluids have been changed (engine oil, transmission, drive shaft, and rearend), the valves have been adjusted, and a full tune-up performed. The transmission shifts perfectly and Bob changed the rear gears from the stock 3.73s (standard issue on US models) to longer 3.23s (standard on the Earles fork bikes) allowing for more relaxed highway touring; now it just burbles pleasantly along at 55-60 mph. All accessories work correctly (the horn, turn signals, head & tail lights, and brake light), as does the speedometer and indicator lights. The paint is factory original, is in beautiful condition with no scratches or marks, and the factory BMW sticker is still on the rear fender. The mufflers are the originals and the chrome is excellent. The full Wixom fairing (batwing upper and frame-mounted lowers) is in excellent condition, was installed when the bike was new, and has never been damaged. It too is in the original paint and has no scratches, nicks, or chips. The saddlebags are Wixoms, their latches work properly, and they are very nice. Included is the matching trunk (not installed), painted and pinstriped to match back in 1969. The windshield is the correct tall Wixom, has no scratches, and can be easily trimmed shorter to fit the new owner. The factory optional bar end turn signals work properly and the factory tire pump is still in place on the upper frame rail. Excellent original Meier factory touring saddle; very comfortable. Excellent original alloy wheels fitted with Metzeler tires. Gorgeous classic bike that can still be used as a modern touring machine (and when's the last time you saw one with only 15,633 actual miles? in excellent original factory paint? and with a period correct full dress fairing and bags?). The ultimate classic ride for bike night!
