Vehicle Detail

THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION!!! 1968 International Harvester Travelall 1000 with a 345 V-8 engine and 2-wheel drive, auto trans, power steering, no air conditioning. This has the Super-Capacity heater from the factory, built for northern vehicles at the time. This vehicle has original mileage of 21, XXX miles and it shows. This vehicle comes with clear, signed off and dated, 2nd owner title, original owner’s manual and radio manual along with original build sheet still attached to driver sun visor. This is a 2 owner vehicle with the original owner being Mrs. William Hoover, late wife of the inventor of the Hoover vacuum cleaner. They lived in the Chicago area and this vehicle spent its entire life in that area. With that said, you will notice rust issues only on the underneath and right side of the vehicle due to salt distribution on the streets during their snowy winters. Why the lower left side of the vehicle sheet metal did not suffer near the same damage as the right side, is beyond us. (Note the pictures) This vehicle is in extremely good original condition. We simply want you to know this up front. Otherwise, I would state this to be an 8.5 on a rating of 10 as to overall condition. Please examine the photos carefully. We have provided lots of them for you in order for you to be able to make a decision as if you had the opportunity to personally inspect the vehicle here in Saint Louis, MO. This vehicle was “garage kept” its entire life and still is. This vehicle will ship economically to any part of the country given its central location in the US. We do have a shipper we will be glad to put you in contact with if you don’t choose to drive it home yourself. They are a family business, being reliable and honest with us in over a dozen shipments in years past. We drove it from Chicago to here (300 miles) without issue and cannot guarantee your ride home but feel comfortable with your doing so if you chose to. This Travelall starts immediately and runs very smoothly with no engine noises (as you will see in the videos below) and the 3-speed automatic transmission shifts wonderfully as it should. All fluids including; gas tank, engine, transmission, differential, coolant, power steering, oil bath air cleaner (1 qt. oil) and brakes have been flushed and replaced and then operated enough miles to prove to us that this vehicle is road worthy. The brakes and tires are in excellent condition and the brakes are power along with the automatic transmission allowing you to thoroughly enjoy cruising in this vehicle about town or enjoying a road trip for a day. The exhaust has been recently replaced on both sides of the engine from below manifolds back to the new mufflers and tail pipes on each side at a cost of $400. Quality work. We did not have the exhaust pipes brought out to the side of each quarter so that you can address the quarter panel rust issues 1st and then turn them down or out, as you wish. The interior is in exceptionally good original condition with the vinyl dash being flawless and the seats (note the original IH seat belts) without rips or tears and even the original spare tire cover is very presentable. (The spare tire well is solid and not rusted through as was common on these!) The door panels and armrests are also original material and in very good condition. The headliner is original and looks like the rest of the interior, original and well cared for. The rubber molded floor mats and black rubber in the rear of the station wagon are in really nice original condition. Pictures show all. The doors all open and close smoothly and all door glass goes up and down in the channel as it should without restriction. All of the glass is crack free and the rubber molding is still in very good condition. (Obviously kept indoors) All lights, brake, back up, turn signals, emergency flashers and dash including emergency brake light are operative and in addition to that all gauges and original radio work as they should. The tailgate window operates smoothly and works as it should with a factory switch at the dash. All of the paint, inside and out, appears to be original and is in very good condition. Keep in mind this is our opinion based on our observations. Stainless steel trim and chrome are in very good condition as you will notice in the over 200 pictures provided for your viewing pleasure. Click here to see all of the pictures. We hope you have plenty of time to enjoy all of these pictures we have provided so that you may feel as comfortable as if you had come and looked at it personally. The rust on the TAILGATE is not much more than "bubbly" surface rust as best we can tell. We poked at it and the structure of the gate is solid in that there is NO GIVE if you try to find a weakness in moving it in the open to close position. There was a previous 1968 Travelall, similar to this, within the last couple of months that sold for $12,000 with this same color scheme and custom trim and 23,000 miles. We are selling this due to Dad’s 80 years of age and lack of need for his over 1 dozen IH vehicles at this point of his life. This vehicle has been registered and insured and driven, but sparingly. You should be able to enjoy it for many years more than Dad will be able to anymore at this point of his life. Please feel free to ask any questions and know that we will do our best to be of help to you in purchasing this fine truck. We will provide a phone number to those of you who request it. We have sold some of Dad’s collection this year and previous buyers have been pleased with their purchases. Our feedback should speak for itself, so know that you are dealing with a seller that will help you make this purchase with confidence and honest people. We must require that bidders have a minimum of 10 feedbacks and NO negatives due to the proliferation of non-paying bidders! If you have less than 10 feedbacks, Please contact us before bidding. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. The seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein, and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made to account for any incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle, and to have satisfied him or herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgement solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to describe any known defects associated with this vehicle at the buyer's request prior to the close of sale. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle. The buyer understands that this vehicle does not have the safety and protection features (such as air bags, crumple zones, safety glass, etc) that are available on newer vehicles, and Buyer agrees to operate and drive the vehicle at their own risk. The buyer also understands and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the seller from any and all liability resulting from the sale, operation, maintenance, storage, transportation, and or use of the vehicle being purchased in this ad.
