Vehicle Detail

1956 Chevy Short-Bed 3100 Big Window Pickup. This is an original V-8 truck. It was born with a 265 but it was replaced in the early 70's with a 283, High Lift Cam . Has original 3 speed on the column. Rear end was replaced with a passenger car 4:11 rear. It runs very good, starts instantly and idles very nicely with good oil pressure and no smoke. It will suprise you how well this truck runs. 4bbl carb and intake. . I cleaned up the manifolds with new bolts and gaskets, but pipes, mufflers were shot. I spent Over $600 last week having brand new dual exhaust installed professionally. Brakes are solid, clutch feels tight. When I got the truck it had been garaged for over 20 years and not touched. It has bias ply tires on the front. From sitting they have flat spots in them. They are better now that I have driven it a bit. It will need new tires all around to be a regular driver. I normally do not buy anything that is in primer, usually it means its hiding a bunch of crap. In this case it was hiding an ugly yellow paint job that was flaking off. The original color was blue. I sanded through many areas of the truck to show all the body panels are original and not rusted. I sanded the bottoms of the front fenders and areas they rust to show how solid it is. I would say the body is very good to excellent. Better than it appears, which is not usually the case in photographs. One cab corner has blisters but is not fully rotted out. The passenger step in the cab has rust where the hat channel underneath it runs. Both of these are photographed. Bottoms of front fenders, pillars, eyebrows, door pockets are all solid. Lights and gauges all work, as does heater. Original bed wood is covered by a piece of plywood. Bedsides are super straight as is tailgate and rear fenders. Bardon style rear bumper. The original spare tire carrier is still under the bed. It is a nice starting point for a quality restoration or use as is. I can hold for a reasonable amount of time (longer than 30 days then arrangements should be made before bidding). Please get permission from your wife or banker before you bid. I have clear CA title so shipping anywhere is possible. I can take to a hub in Sacramento (free) if it saves you $$. I can have it delivered to the Oakland Port for $250 and to Long Beach for $350. Please ask questions before bidding.
