Vehicle Detail
Up for sale today is a 1995 BMW M3. 1995 was the first model year for the e36-based M3 and the only to feature the OBD-I S50 3.0 liter engine. This car is a coupe with a 5-speed manual transmission. The color is Cosmos with a black “Vader” interior. I bought this car in October of 2007 from a nearby used car dealer. I have spent much of the past 2.5 years re-building the car so what you see today is a reliable daily driven BMW. Follow along and I will outline what I have done and what still needs finished. Engine/Transmission: I have replaced the upper-end gaskets, installed new plugs and filters. I have also painted the valve cover and intake manifold. The water pump was upgraded and the car maintains a perfect temperature, even in warm weather with the AC running. The transmission shifts crisply without grinding. I have only two issues with the engine/transmission; it’s just a bit cold blooded, preferring to warm just a moment before driving. In the mornings, if I wait just a minute before taking off, the runs smooth as silk. The other issue is a slight chatter with the engine running and the transmission in neutral. The problem is intermittent with the likely culprit a slave cylinder. Suspension/Brakes/Differential: I rebuilt the front suspension with OEM parts and installed Koni struts and shocks. I replaced the right rear trailing arm assembly and when doing the shocks, installed new shock mounts and Z3 reinforcement plates. Wheels/Tires: The wheels are aftermarket clones of the factory “contour” wheels used on later e36-based M3’s with near new Nankang tires. I have five or six original DSI wheels that I will include with the sale. Body: There are some small, shallow dents (roof, quarter, door and fender). I replaced the sunroof panel with a new one. I also replaced the factory headlights (included) with DDM Tuning Ellipsoids fitted with 35-watt 6k HID lamps. I have replaced the fog lights, but recently lost one after hitting a bump. I will replace it before the car sells. I have also added blacked out kidney grills and a new lower grill. It needs the brake ducts (included) and the lip to be complete up front. The photos show the car clean, but not detailed. I will have the car detailed before it leaves my possession. Interior: I spent money here too, but its pretty hard to tell! The door panels in these cars do not wear well. The panels in this car are from a newer car and have airbags though they cannot be connected. I also replaced the original seats with another set in much better condition, though they need refinished. I will include a set of manual, non-Vader seats for use if you get the Vaders are getting redone. The headliner is new and looks great. Everything inside the car works like its supposed to except the cruise control and the left power mirror. The cruise control engages, but surges. I’ve replaced the box and cable twice without success. I will also include a new cruise control computer. The radio/CD player is aftermarket, but the buttons match the interior and the unit works okay. The door speakers are not connected, the kick panel speakers are stock and I installed Kove separates in the rear panel. The AC blows ice cold! I drive this car 100 miles during the week and have since spring. It has been a solid, reliable car that turns in 25 mpg on mixed driving. No drama, no problems. Fine Print Viewing/Test Drives: I work in excess of 50 hours per week, but email me and we can try and set up a time to view. If you want to go for a ride, that’s fine, but I drive. Warranty: There is a warranty on the car, but it’s crappy and I don’t know if it can be transferred. Otherwise, the car is sold as-is, where-is without any other warranty, expressed or implied. Deliver/Shipping: The buyer is responsible for all costs associated with delivery or shipping. I’ll arrange to have the car delivered to a Wichita terminal, but everything else is up to the buyer. The car does not leave my possession until paid in full. Payment: A $500 deposit is required within 24-hours of auction end. The remainder is due within 5 days of auction end or when the car is picked-up/shipped. The deposit must be through PayPal and the balance in cash or certified funds. Title: I owe just a little bit on the car. Once I get the deposit, I will pay off the car, and give the buyer the paperwork from the credit union. This will allow you to get a clear title. On Jun-08-10 at 04:53:09 PDT, seller added the following information: I need to add that the ABS and airbag lights have been on since I bought the car. I suspect the ABS light is related to wheel speed sensors of which there are four. I have one for the front that I will include. As for the Airbag light, I am told this may be a clock spring or slip ring.
