Vehicle Detail

1966 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa - 6 cylinder, air-cooled engine - 164 cubic inch, 140 HP - 4 carburetors - 4-sepeed, MANUAL transmission - factory tachometer - 28, 157 original miles This is, arguably, one of the lowest mileage, original Corvairs on the eastern seaboard - absolutely flawless. I purchased this one-owner car in 1988 with 13,992 miles on the odometer. The gentleman who owned the car died suddenly in 1968 and his wife stored the vehicle in a garage, refusing to let anyone in the family drive it. The odometer showed that the car was off warranty by just 1,900 miles at the time of the owner's death. The wife passed away in 1987 (she was well into her nineties) and I purchased the car from her daughter in 1988 – at the time of purchase, the car was still sitting in the same place it had been parked in 1968. The car was/is an absolute time capsule – on the floor of the vehicle were store receipts dated December, 1968. All the dealer paperwork and every option listed on the delivery invoice was still there. The Chevy dealership where the car was purchased in 1966 - Dillon Chevrolet in Greenfield, Massachusetts - is still in business today. After getting the car home, I performed a complete tune-up, oil change and installed new push rod "o-rings." I also replaced the wheel brake cylinders and put on new tires. The car ran like new. I replaced the like-new original dual exhaust mufflers with dual extractors - which give the car a pleasing sports car sound. The paint required some minor touching up - other than that, the car is completely original. There is no rust ANYWHERE on the car - see pictures of the underside, trunk, etc. All the original factory decals are still in place and in beautiful condition. The car looks as though it just rolled out of the showroom. In the 22 years that we have owned the car, we put approximately 14,000 miles on the odometer. We loaned the car out to the Yankee Candle Company Auto Museum (the museum is now closed, the company having converted the museum into additional retail space), where it was on public display for a little over three years. Aside from its stay in the museum, we have used the Corsa for Sunday drives, parades, cruise nights and car shows. The car is stunning and attracts an immense amount of attention wherever it goes. It has won numerous awards at various shows over the years and is well-known in Corvair circles in the Northeast. I have been a “car guy” for over 35 years. My collection includes a 1930 Model A Ford, a 1928 Model A Ford, a 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle, a 1965 Corvair Monza convertible and finally, a 1999 VW Eurovan Winnebago camper. I have kept all the original paperwork for the Corsa. NOTE: I perform routine oil changes on all my vehicles at regular intervals throughout the year (usually with very few miles on the oil). Contact Ron through the E-Bay "contact seller" option for questions or appointments to see the car. Vehicle is located in Central Massachusetts. It is currently registered in Massachusetts and has a clear Massachusetts title. Additional pictures available upon request. Seller has the right to remove item from auction at any time. Unfortunately, I'm not interested in either a full or partial trade for the Corsa (tempting as some of those trade offers have been); I am looking to downsize, so trades will not be considered. Thanks! On Jun-08-10 at 08:53:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Several people have pointed out conflicting information in the listing regarding payment - my apologies. It should read "balance due within 7 days of the end of the auction." Thanks!
