Vehicle Detail

Classic 1965 Ford Thunderbird Hot Rod. This garage kept beauty has been sitting for about 8 years, with regular starts, but hasn't been on the road until recently. My son found it last summer doing yard work for the original owner. He struck a deal and the car was his, fell in love with the thought of owning a classic, but not the idea of the labor or money required to up keep one. I got the idea he would lose interest when he started to clean 8 years of garage dust from the interior and exterior, and it took 5 days to get the wax off. I guess my telling him you have got to work on it everyday did not go well. So here it is on E-Bay. I don't need another project for myself and I'm not a Ford guy. The engine from what I can tell has about 125,000 on it. It was rebuilt at 120,000. ( I have the reciept from the rebuild shop) and currently shows 25,000. (125,000) it looks stock from what I can tell except, for the air cleaner and a trans cooler mounted in the front bumper area. I'm not sure on the chrome valve covers as I have seen other cars on E-Bay and at car shows that have them. We did change out the oil, oil filters and fuel filters and gave it a bit of a bath with a steam cleaner. Don't see any leaks around the block and nothing on the garage floor after a drive. The Air Conditioner pump in the car has the belt off and is not working, but there is a rebuilt one in the trunk. The mufflers and pipes on the exhaust was replaced. It did pass or local emissions test. This 390 fires right up and smooths out ready to go. We have got on it and it goes, nice for a big cruiser. The Transmission as far as I can tell never had any problems according to the original owner, regular service was about all. I do know you have to push up hard on the gear shift to start it and it wil drop into reverse from park. Not sure if it is the linkage out of adjustment or the selector ratchet in the steering column, it has that swing away steerring wheel which is activated by pushing up on the gear selector in park. Maybe worn. Electrically everything works, except the fuel gage and I may have that repaired before the auction is closed. The interior is in decent shape a bit worn in spots, no tears or rips. The interior chrome could use some shining up, but it is all there. Carpets look good for a car of this age, as does the headliner. Everything works, some windows are slower than the others, maybe vaccum lines? Not a Ford guy. There is a crack in the dash, which is shown by a picture. The body is straight without any rust that I can see. It has been garage kept in the high desert, we don't get much rust around here. The driverside door was in a in the garage accident and had a great repair below the door lock. It was not repainted at the time as the original owner wanted to repaint the entire car. Never did, so it will need new paint as it is 1965 original wear. The Landau top is in great shape. Our weather hasn't been the greatest so I will be adding more pictures as soon as possible. Please feel free to ask any questions or if there is something you want a more detailed picture of. On May-18-10 at 20:00:24 PDT, seller added the following information:
