Vehicle Detail
I bought this Triumph from a guy in Birmingham Ala. that dealt in American cars from the mid 50s. The Triumph was in a bundle of cars that he bought along with things like Hudsons and DeSotos. He then advertised it in Hemmings. The boys at JD's British care here in Nashville have taken good mechanical care of it over the last 15 years and it runs like a top. The interior is original except for the door panels. The paint is beautiful. I had the body off the frame a few years ago for work detailed below. While the body was off everything under the hood was refinished. I've placed 3rd twice in the Nashville British Car Club shows. The next thing I would do, were I to keep it, would be the interior, weather stripping & rubber moulding etc. Awesome car.... runs great, no shakes, no rattles or vibrations. There is zero evidence anywhere that the car has ever been hit or in an accident. Where all the panels come together under the hood and in the trunk are flawless. All seams are straight and appear to have never been hammered or reshaped. That's my best knowledge. I have owned the car for about 15 years and have never been in an accident or had any body work related to rust. The TR4s are prone to rust in particular areas but nothing has popped up in the long time I've owned the car. The motor runs great. I’ve replaced bearings, crank and timing chain, front and rear springs and bushings between the body and frame, transmission mounts, brake hoses, engine mounts, steering boots and tie rod ends. I've never had a problem with the transmission, differential, steering etc etc. The car drives great. I had it up to 90 mph many times with no vibrations. The car has never been restored but is in perfect shape for that next step or it can be driven daily, as is, for the next 20 years with no problem. The interior is 90% original. Every year I have it checked out carefully by a local specialist... up on the rack and we inspect everything. All the photos I have are less than 4 weeks old.
