Vehicle Detail

Ford 427 FE V8 parts engine This engine is being sold as a disassembled parts engine. A good engine builder or machine shop may be able to repair this block and reassemble it, however this is not something we are interested in pursuing. This engine was brought in to be used in a project, however we found too many problems when we started to inspect it to keep it all complete and go any further with it. First, the good: What we have here is a date-coded 66-427 C5AE-H Ford FE side oiler block with cross-drilled mains. We have matching C3AE 6090J heads that look to be in excellent condition. Also, we believe this to be a standard/standard crank with a date code of C5AE 6303, as can be seen in the pictures. In the pictures a steel billet solid lifter camshaft and the adjustable rocker assemblies can also be seen with a pair of vintage chrome "Powered by Ford" valve covers. An early Ford HEI distributor will also be included, along with all of the misc hardware that was removed during disassembly. The pistons appear to be standard Ford 427 pistons, stamped with FoMoCo and date-coded as C5AE 6110 AU pistons. These are attached to C6AE-E 'Le Mans'-style cap-screw connecting rods that were also used on 428 Super Cobra Jet motors. Now, the bad: While this is a great motor that would be perfect for any Ford muscle car restoration, this block has\, unfortunately, had machine work done to one of the crank bearing surfaces to repair what may have been a catastrophic engine failure. A sleeve that was installed in one piston was also installed improperly as well. Please see photos for this. We have also attached a photo of the area where the oil pump mounts, as this has broken off and is far more of a problem that we wish to work with on any engine. The piece is still with the block, so a good welder may be able to take care of this issue. It also looks like there is a small hairline crack near the center freeze plug on both sides, however we have not tanked this engine to verify this. Again, this has the potential to be a great engine for the right person. We would love to have found the block to be unbroken and not formerly "repaired", however this was not the case. Our loss could be your gain, we are selling this as a complete package as we wanted to keep everything together for a prospective buyer that may want to rebuild what may have been a really awesome motor at one time. This item may be shipped on a pallet anywhere you wish, please contact me for a shipping quote with your address information and whether we would be shipping to a residential address or to a business with a forklift or loading dock. The whole package may also be viewed and/or picked up by the winning bidder at any time here at our shop in Wylie, TX. I have additional pictures that may be emailed to you as eBay will only allow 12 pictures to be attached here.
