Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1928 or 1929 Ford Model A 2 door sedan. It was previously a mail wagon in North Dakota and was moved to Montana about 15 years ago. It has been stored inside until one year ago and it was always covered with a tarp. Body The body of the car is in decent shape with only a little rust. The bottom edge of the drivers door and a small area in the cowl have some rust that is visible in the photo graphs. I would imagine that a few pinholes could be found it a guy poked around. For the most part it is not a rust bucket because it has always been in dry climates. All over the body has misc small dents and dings that I would consider common for cars this old. Some dings were hammered out and others still remain. At the back on the driver side corner it appears that is was hammer welded at one time. They did a pretty good job and the seam is about 8 inches long. The hood is pretty bent up but could be salvaged if necessary. The fenders have misc dings and have rock damage from the dirt roads. They appear as thought somebody tapped on the inside with a ball peen hammer. I think they could be saved but please look at the pictures and be the judge. The car does have some misc holes mainly around the doors and body around the doors. It looks like some screws may have held the door closed at one time. Pleas see the pictures. The splash aprons have some small dings but appear to be in good shape and the running boards aren’t bad considering the age. They do have some pinholes in a few places. The car may have had a heater at one time because there is a hole in the fire wall on the passenger side of the car. The gas tank was filled with Diesel fuel and is not rusted out. The paint appears to have been rolled on over the original with some paint coming off. Over all I’d say the metal is in fair shape considering it was used every day for quite some time. Engine and Transmission The car ran into the 80’s and has been parked since. The motor is now froze up but it turned over about 5 years ago. It is pretty complete and comes with another engine that may be missing a few pieces but it turns over. There is also an extra transmission that goes with the car that I was told is in working order. I’d say that there are enough major pieces for two engines and transmissions. The wheels are 19” and the tires are shot. I am sure that some spokes are bent but I don’t think they are beyond repair. Interior The interior is pretty sparse and missing some of the seats. It does have a front seat but I am not certain if it is original to this car. ½ of that back seat is there as well. It is missing some gauges but there may be a few others with some misc parts that come with the car. The wood is original and in pretty fair shape. I am sure that some could be replaced but it is not rotten. The canvas top is just starting to tear and exposing some of the wood in the back. There is both plywood and pine for the floor. Other Items The headlights and bar is still there and in decent shape. The rear bumper on the car has some angle iron welded to it that can’t be seen in the pictures. The frame and drive train look good but there could be cracks in the typically places for A frames. There is only surface rust and no major damage for the frame. Radiator looks pretty rough and I am not sure if it would hold water. Included with the car is a complete set of fiberglass fenders for the front and rear that are new in the plastic. They were purchased from speedway some years back and never used. New steel splash aprons and running boards are also included that are new in the box. There are some small misc pieces that go with the car but nothing special. Please ask questions and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. I have tried to describe the car as accurate as possible. Payment and Transportation. $500 dollar deposit is necessary 1 week after auction with payment in full before the car is picked up. I can keep the car for two weeks after the action ends and may be able to transport a short distance for fee. I prefer wire transfer, cash, paypal, or cashier’s check for payment. Car can be inspected anytime. I reserve the right to end the auction anytime. Thanks
