Vehicle Detail
This auction is for an original 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air Station Wagon with a 283 V8 and 2 Speed Power-Glide transmission (Model 1635 8). Here is the situation . . . This car is quite literally a "little old lady" car :o) This was my grandmother's car and it was never abused (60 MPH at most!), always well maintained and garaged for most of its life. Unfortunately, the family did not have space to keep it in the garage after she passed. However, the family member who inherited it (age 70+) recently spent thousands of dollars on this car! The following is a description gathered from personal knowledge and family input. As noted above, this is an original/unmolested 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air Station Wagon with a 283 V8 and 2 Speed Power-Glide transmission. This car always ran great and never gave grandma any trouble. In fact, it was registered and on the road until the plates were removed recently to save $ on registratiion and insurance. Because the heir who inherited it had plans to restore it to original, I believe he had a valve job and some other engine work (both interior and exterior) done (his wife has some of the receipts). It had been sitting for a long time and I started it right up on a very cold New England day earlier this year. This little 283 runs perfect! It is smooth and it sounds great! The transmission works and shifts as it should. The car is parked on pavement and there are no leaks, etc. The steering works well, the brakes work well, the lights work, the exhaust is good, etc., etc. As pictured, everything is there . . . No hunting around for lots of missing parts on this one . . . The grill is absolutely classic and in nice condition, the hubcaps are all there, the trim and logos are all there, the glass is all there, the interior is all there and functioning, etc., etc. It also has 4 brand new whitewall tires on it (approximately $500 of Cooper radials, if I recall correctly). It has a very desirable functioning power rear window in the rear gate (I think he paid $400+ to get this rebuilt). The black exterior paint is all "checked," there is rust in the usual places (lower part of the fenders and bumpers), and there are problems with the frame in the rear (I do not know exactly what is wrong--he said the frame was repaired once but needed to be repaired correctly). Revision: Several have asked about accidents/body work . . . As far as we know, this car has never been wrecked and it has had no body work. Revision #2: The elderly owner just came across the original owner's manual and some other original booklets. She also located some additional receipts (e.g., new exhaust system, engine work, etc.). This will make a GREAT restoration project!!! As mentioned, everything is there and its all original . . . If metalwork is not a problem for you, this will be right up your alley :o) If, God forbid, you need this for parts, there is a TON of value here . . . Some quick addition gets you FAR beyond the less than 1500 starting bid! For example, the new tires, the hubcaps, the grill/front end, the trim, the emblems, the lights, the rear gate/window assembly, the great running 283 V8, the power-glide transmission in good working order, the radiator, the steering wheel, the radio, the dash parts, etc., etc. This is a great old wagon and, although GM built a lot of these, there are not too many of these left on the road. I am not a dealer, so please do email me with any questions, requests for pictures, etc. I am happy to reply. I am listing this "as is" good running 1964 Chevrolet to start at less than $1500.00! Thank you for your interest and happy bidding . . . This car can be picked up by appointment in SE Connecticut. As noted above, I am not a dealer and my items are sold "as is," so please shop with care, ask questions, request additional pictures, do your research, etc., etc. As you can see from my descriptions, open invitation for correspondence, 100% positive feedback, high scores on "Detailed Seller Ratings," etc., I am an honest seller who works very hard to please buyers.
