Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1957 Studebaker Commander DeLuxe 4 Door Sedan. I drove it home to Maryland from Tennessee three years ago, intending to fix it up as a driver. Only prroblem on the trip (Other from a wrong turn in DC!) was the wiper motor died. It was comfortable at highway speeds and drew lots of comments from the people I met on the way! Factory options include" Three Speed Manual Transmission with Overdrive Power Steering Hill Holder (A Studebaker exclusive!) Modifications (By prior owner) include: Air Conditioner (Installation never completed) '56 Front Clip (Hood, Fenders, Grill and Bumper) Five matching 205x75R15 Radial Tires, one wheel isn't original. (I think it's a Ford) Alternator Work done in the last three years: New Rear Shocks New Wheel Cylinders New Brake Hoses (Shoes and Drums were good) Re-packed All Wheel Bearings (Including rear!) New Seals in Tranny Tail Shaft and Rear Axle New Exhaust System Radiator Re-Cored Included Items: Shop Manual (In 3 Ring Binder) Manual Set on CD-Rom (Shop, Body and Chassis) Original Sales Literature Production Order (Build Sheet) Known Problems: Electrical Problems (Constant Discharge of Battery, Turn Signals and Wiper Motor need Repair) Driver's Door Jamb Out of Line Cracked Side Glass Minor Rust Missing Trunk Latch Paint and interior are showing their age. Front seat backrest has ulpolstery damage. Repair to floor solid but sloppy. This car can be a driver with little work, or it can be a great start for a restoration or custom. Parts are available and the Studebaker Driver's Club offers great support for this make. Questions? Call me at 443-467-9812.On May-15-10 at 06:58:35 PDT, seller added the following information: I believe the engine is the original Studebaker 259 cubic inch V8, although I have not checked the engine's number to confirm. It has a Carter 4 barrel carb and a single exhaust. Thanks to the caller who asked for this info!
