Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 I am reluctantly offering my 1985 XJ6 for sale, due to an unplanned early retirement, as a result of the recent economic downturn. This is a very nice original example of this classic Series III sedan. It has won best in class (driven) awards at Jaguar Club of North America events (please see pictures). These awards are included with this sale. The interior of the vehicle is very nice. The carpets and upholstery are in very good shape, and a new headliner was professionally installed last year. Other than the aroma of well maintained leather, there are no odor related issues. The wood is in good original condition, with the exception of a three inch hairline crack, just below the leaper that is positioned above the radio (please see pictures). The doors locks, windows, side mirrors, gauges, lights, heating, air conditioning, sound system, power antenna, and cruising control, are all in proper working order. The exterior of the vehicle is very presentable for its age. You will not find any rust issues around the windscreens, quarter panels, floor, trunk, or undercarriage, that are commonly associated with the Series III. To the best of my knowledge, this vehicle has always been garaged and never driven in harsh weather. From ten feet away, the paint shines brightly as does the chrome. Upon closer inspection, you will find the usual small paint nicks and touched up spots, that result from driving under normal road conditions. In addition, there is some slight fading of the paint on the top of the right rear fender between the gas cap and the antenna, as well as, a darker faded spot just behind the antenna (please see pictures). I was informed when I purchased the car, that these paint blemishes resulted from a gas overflow during refueling that was not addressed soon enough. Although, they can easily be remedied by a competent auto paint shop, I have not considered them enough of a detraction to address at this juncture. The engine, transmission, steering, and suspension, are all in very good condition, as a result of regularly scheduled maintenance and the vehicle's low 37,698 original miles (averaging 1,500 miles per year / over 25 years). Following is a list of the work performed upon my purchase of the vehicle in August of 2009. All of the indicated maintenance items were completed by the veteran british car technicians at Specialty Sports & Classic Cars of Columbus, Ohio. 1) Performed a complete tune up, including engine, brake, and transmission fluid replacement 2) Adjusted the upper timing chain tension 3) Replaced wiper blades 4) Serviced and adjusted the automatic transmission, resealed the transmission servo covers and replaced the shifter shaft seal 5) Replaced the oil cap and dipstick seals 6) Changed the lubricant in the differential 7) Replaced rear brake rotors and pads 8) Rebuilt the brake calipers 9) Replaced the stub axle seals, bearings, and brake hoses 10) Adjusted the parking brake 11) Rep1aced the cruise control actuator bellows and cleaned the control values 12) Replaced the engine oil cooler and hoses 13) Replaced the upper control arm bushings in the front suspension 14) Replaced the upper and lower ball joints 15) Replaced the upper shock mount bushings 16) Adjusted the front hub bearing end floats 17) Cleaned and refurbished power steering rack with new seals and bellows 18) Installed new polyurethane mounts and replaced steering pump hoses 19) Replaced all accessory drive belts 20) Replaced heater control value 21) Installed tappet guide retainer kit on exhaust side of cylinder head 22) Replaced exhaust cam cover gasket and seal. In summary, everything functions as it should, which provides the legendary "smoothness of ride" associated with these well engineered motor cars. The existing tires are Pirellis that have about 80% of their thread remaining, although they are getting close to the end of their ten year recommended life span. I recently completed a round trip of more than 1,500 miles without incident. Although I think this vehicle could easily be driven cross country, the fact remains that it is 25 years old. Therefore, this vehicle is being sold "as is and where is", with no expressed or implied warranty. Pick up or shipping will be the sole responsibility of the buyer. I will gladly assist by meeting your flight at our local airport, or, I will make myself available to interface with an auto transport service of your choice. Personally, when transporting a classic car that is located a fair distance outside of my resident state, I have found it prudent to have it shipped. Utilizing a reputable transporter can be very economical, considering the cost of airfare, possible accommodations, and your personal time, should you have an incident while driving your new investment home. Bidding and Payment Considerations: This auction is open to bidders who reside in the continental United States. I am a private seller, and therefore neither equipped or experienced enough to enter into an international transaction. Thank you for your consideration in this regard. I have bought and sold three classic british cars on eBay over the past decade, and have received 100% positive feedback for all ninety three of my eBay purchases during this period. If you are new to eBay, please remember that if you elect to participate in this auction and win, you are entering into a legally binding contract to purchase this vehicle. In doing so, you respect the rights of others who are also bidding in good faith. With that being said, I reserve the right to disqualify any bidder who has received negative feedback for non-payment associated with an auction that they have won. Please ensure that you have adequate capital on hand, or pre-approved financing, prior to entering your bid. A $500.00 non-refundable deposit (preferably via PayPal) is required within 48 hours of winning, or the vehicle will have to be relisted for auction. The remaining balance must be received within 7 calendar days of winning, either by cash-in-person, money order, or a bank cashier check. If the final payment is not cash-in-person, then the vehicle and title can not be released until all funds have been processed (cleared) by my financial institution. I will gladly respond to any questions that you may have during the auction period, via the "ask the seller a question" feature. Thank you for your interest in viewing this well maintained vehicle, and complying with the aforementioned considerations if you decide to participate in the bidding.
