Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a very nice VW Bug. This car has never been hacked like so many classic VW's. All the wiring is intact and everything works. There is no body rust and all the doors and windows open and close smoothly like a car that's been well maintained. This is an original California car and was owned for several years by an older man from Ranch Bernardo who took good care of it. The floor pans are in great shape without the usual rust through areas. The engine (1600 single port) is brand new and has fewer than 100 miles on it since complete rebuild. The transmission shifts smoothly, no grinding or popping out of gear. The brakes have been reworked and stop the car very well. Here's a listing of a few of the recent maintenance items. It's not perfect. The paint is in good shape but has some chips that can be seen in the pictures. The interior is great but does have a couple imperfections. The right front tire is worn from a bad link pin bushing that has since been replaced and the entire front end rebuilt and aligned. The horn isn't working but all the lights, turn signals, dome light, etc. work great. I went to great pains to get the engine right. It was rebuilt by my machinist, Kenyon Machine, that has been building air cooled VW engines for 40 years. It cost me $1100 just for them to rebuild the 1600 single port long block and then I dressed it in all German tin with all the required original pieces so you can be assured it's a quality engine that will give years of good service. I even rebuilt the firewall and all engine electrical wiring has been upgraded. I've added electronic points to the distributor and the car starts right up with the first rotation. For added reliability the engine has a Bosch alternator which is much better than the original generator. The car has been upgraded from 6 volt to 12 volt. Payment: A $500 deposit is due immediately via Paypal (unless other arrangements have been made in advance). The balance is due within 7 days of the close of the auction via cashiers check or bank wire transfer. I'm experienced in shipping vehicles both domestically and internationally.
