This is done PRIOR to the vehicle being purchased by us - if it does not pass it's Inspection - we don't buy it. When we purchase a vehicle, we investigate all the other vehicles around that are like it. We have sourced all of Orange County, CA looking at Miatas from 2001 to 2003 and we are happy to report that this is the finest one...hands down. About Us: Before we sell any vehicle, we have it inspected by Manheim - a service that costs us about $150.00. It gives us a real clear indicator of the condition of the vehicle. Additionally, we do a complimentary oil change and lube, and we also perform other maintenance tasks as necessary. This could include new spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, timing belt, accessory belts, a timing adjustment, tire rotation, and new tires depending on condition. We also obtain an Autocheck Report and for California buyers, we have a smog check performed. Where We Get Our Vehicles: We obtain vehicles from many sources including private parties, lien sales, liquidators, and dealer only auctions. The dealer auctions are a pretty surreal experience. You absolutely must know what you are doing. It's not a just place where only dealers can buy vehicles from other dealers. It's a place where dealers can buy vehicles from rental companies, banks, lending institutions, repossessions, AND other dealers. The auction company (we use Manheim) rates all their vehicles on a scale of 1 to 5 - 5 being best. We purchase vehicles that are 4.5 or greater in quality. A vehicle that is rated at 4.5 is typically in the upper end quality of vehicles. Fewer than 1% of the vehicles at the dealer auctions fit into our criteria. In Southern California, there are 4 major Dealer Auction sites that process an average of 2500 vehicles per week each. We bid on about 80 out that 10,000. That's less than 1%. Most of our purchases at the dealer only auctions come from Leasing Companies, Banks and Lending Institutions, Repossessions, Rental Agencies, and Dealer Sales. That's the law. Therefore, buyer is responsible for all tax, title, smog, and license fees (current and past due) which will be payable directly to the DMV in the state in which they register the vehicle. We will handle all the title preparation and paperwork, and buyer is required to go to the DMV to remit payment for those fees associated with purchasing a vehicle. A document prep fee of $200.00 ($300.00 for priority/rush service) accompanies all purchases which will be collected upon completion of purchase. Buyer will be required to provide a copy of a valid Driver's License, and a copy of Proof of Insurance for this vehicle being sold. This particular vehicle has California License Plates and Registration Tags that do not expire until June of 2010 - there are no back fees due to the DMV in California. The buyer will be responsible for any and all fees to the DMV, both current and previous. Buyers have 10 days to register the vehicle with the DMV. We automatically submit our DMV paperwork immediately upon completion of sale, so the DMV is fully aware of the date of sale.
