My Spitfire didn't sell first time, so I'll try once more; this time at NO RESERVE. If you’ve been looking for a clean, honest driver in excellent running condition, my Spitfire may be the right car for you. The car is an early, 1979 model meaning it is the last of the chrome bumper cars. It also has both the optional factory hardtop and overdrive! In this configuration you also get the factory electric fan of the later cars, freeing up a few more ponies via the elimination of the old fashion mechanically driven fan. It never runs hot, not even in Texas. The car is very original with the exception of a downdraught Weber carb and exhaust header. (These are popular upgrades and noticeably improve performance and overall drivability.) All mechanical and electrical systems including the overdrive function as they should with the exception of the horn. (A new-in-the-box Lucas integral turn signal/horn is included in the sale.) The car has recently been serviced, runs strong, drives beautifully and uses no oil although it does leave a few drops in the driveway. The Spitfire is rust free. There are some areas of light surface oxidation on the horizontal shelf that contains the brake and clutch master cylinder. The paint is nice, not perfect but an honest driver you would be proud to own and be seen in. There are minor dings and scratches the worst of which is shown close up in one of the photos, but the paint is shiny overall and shows very well. There is presently not a radio installed but a working aftermarket am/fm/CD player comes with the car should you chose to fit it. The soft top and frame are in great condition, ready to use.
