Vehicle Detail

This is the holy grail of 6.9’s; an absolutely pristine condition car, with only 99K documented original miles. Fantastic cosmetic condition inside and out. Flawless mechanically with everything working, including the suspension that stays up for WEEKS at a time. Best of all, this car is FULLY DOCUMENTED BACK TO DAY ONE, with a binder that contains EVERY SINGLLE RECORD OF ANYTHING DONE ON THE CAR, from the original window sticker, to tires, oil changes, service, maintenance, and cosmetics. EVERYTHING! She runs strong, looks great, and is in SUCH great shape cosmetically and mechanically; this car needs nothing but a new owner. I have bought, driven, and sold over 150 W126 and older Mercedes cars in the last 5 years, including a low mile 6.9, and this one is just fantastic. Read on to find out more. -- Here she is in all her glory -- Yes, this car is expensive. But if you are looking for an excellent collectible Benz, the rare big-bad 6.9 is a good place to start. ALL OEM with zero modifications except for the addition of correct European Bosch H4 headlights. And when you add the cosmetic condition, miles, and operating condition of this car, the winner of this auction will certainly have one of the nicest 6.9’s in the United States. This car is fully sorted, with a recent open-checkbook mechanical inspection. I will do every little thing needed to make sure this car is 110% for the winning bidder, and I can provide literally hundreds of references from buyers that will tell you I do what I say, and deliver what I promise. Here's the deal: -- She's a 1979 USA 450SEL 6.9 in 744 astral silver over navy leather and matching navy carpets, door panels, and dash. She has only 99,xxx original fully documented miles! She looks simply amazing with her laser-straight body panels, crystal clear glass, and excellent chrome & rubber. All 250HP are present and accounted for, and this 6.9 fires instantly and pulls with authority at any speed you choose. This car was LOVED, and it shows. -- -- Look at the original details, doorjambs, chrome, rubber, glass, etc on this car; you will likely never see nicer original parts. This is without the extensive detailing that will be done prior to delivery for the winning bidder! -- -- Exterior 9.5 out of 10 (I'm finicky) – Excellent overall condition paint, body, glass, and trim. No dings or dents. She looks amazing, with a great gloss to her 744 metallic silver paint. Imagine getting a 31 year old car that looks this good! -- -- The lower side-body moldings are in great shape. Rubber, glass, and trim are all very very nice. -- -- Look at the body panels.....they are laser straight. -- -- Her wheels are OEM Mercedes 14” alloys. Tires are 85%+ tread remaining 215/70/14 Firestone Affinity LH30’s and all match. They balance out perfectly and look great. -- -- Interior 9.5 out of 10 (soon to be 9.75)– Seats, carpets, headliner are all in astounding condition. The back seat looks new! No saggy seatbase cushions or worn out cracked/faded leather, no smelly horsehair pads, no weak springs. The door panels, dash, and center console are all excellent. Seat belts are perfect, the headliner is not faded or droopy, even the leather rear seats, notorious for pulling and shrinking over time, are great! The front door panel inserts show some pulling, and there are a couple of small dash cracks. All will be remedied prior to delivery to the winning bidder. -- -- Here is more good stuff. If you know these cars, you know at this age if not in excellent, the orange instrument cluster needles and markings are faded to dull yellow, the wood trim is cracked and cloudy, there is moisture in the spare tire well, the door jambs are rough and faded, the headlight lenses are cracked/cloudy, etc etc. NONE of those issues are present with this car. The condition of these items, and all the other items like them, is excellent AND original. It will be very hard to find a better condition 6.9 anywhere. -- -- The door panels and wood trim are also in great shape, like the rest of the car (I will repair the pull to the insert panels). -- -- Even the trunk and spare are mint, and the tool roll is in place as is the original unused first-aid kit. The spare tire and both wheel wells are BONE DRY. The spare wheel and tire are original and have never touched the ground in 31 years! -- -- How about this; the original set of unused suspension blocks! And a 4” thick binder with EVERY service record for this 6.9 since new. Absolutely amazing. I have not totaled it up, but it must clear $40,000 in maintenance and repairs. You name it, it was done on this car, and probably done twice just for good measure! -- -- Electrical 10 out of 10 – All windows, sunroof, vacuum lock system, lights, sunroof, wipers, defogger, mirror, and other items work properly. Original radio and antenna operate properly. The HVAC system is fast to respond, the servo excellent, and operates perfectly with hot heat and cold A/C. -- Options include electric sunroof, power antenna, automatic climate control, and more. -- -- Mechanical 10 out of 10 - Engine starts, idles, runs, and revs to redline in all three gears smooth and STRONG. No delay, thunk, flare, or anything else going into or out of any gear. This 6.9 flies, and feels great on the road, especially at high speeds. Transmission is smooth yet very firm, gears engage perfectly. She runs at high speed with no vibrations or noises. -- -- She has passed THREE inspections with flying colors. A pre-purchase overall inspection, a suspension/brake/wheel/tire/exhaust inspection, and my mechanic has gone over her as well. After a thorough inspection for problems, nothing of significance was found. But some little items were addressed anyway: brake pads, OEM windshield wiper blades, all new fuses, complete tune-up (plugs, cap, rotor, wires, air filter, fuel filter), right front lower control arm bushing, and more; whatever was found to be less than 100% was replaced. The power steering pump groans a little so I am attending to that as well. -- -- Engine is strong and VERY eager to run, transmission smooth. Brakes are solid and pedal feel is firm. Suspension is great; she stays up indefinitely, operates properly on the road, and levels as she is supposed to. Steering nicely weighted with no play in the box. No noises. This 6.9 drives and handles like Mercedes intended. -- -- She comes with her books, 2 keys, tools/jack, first-aid kit, suspension blocks, clean carfax, and complete binder with EVERY service record since she was new. This car was LOVED, and it shows. -- -- She does not have any trunk leaks common to W116 cars, no rubber rot (in fact there are some new and unused window rubber seals included in the sale), no lukewarm A/C....NOTHING. Everything is in fantastic shape, and at 99K miles, she's not even really broken in yet! If you’ve been waiting for that time-capsule rare 6.9 collector car, it has arrived. -- -- If someone selects the buy-it-now option, I will provide a full detailing including engine bay, carpet steam cleaning, new MB OEM carpeted floor mats, custom-fitted car cover, and more. Drive this fantastic 6.9 with complete peace of mind; it has been thoroughly inspected and serviced. I hate to say you could use it as a daily driver, but honestly, you could, it’s that good! At the BIN price, I will go over the car with a microscope and fix EVERYTHING I can find, and then some! -- -- Nits: While the exterior looks fantastic, and even the bumpers and chrome are great, the car does have some small touch-up spots, etc from use over her time on the road. This is a 99K mile 31 year old car, so please be realistic, it’s not a rotisserie restoration. But it IS in amazing original near show-quality condition. There are no other significant cosmetic or mechanical problems whatsoever, and if you know the older W116 chassis cars, you know it’s amazing to find one in this overall condition, much less a 6.9. -- -- I have good feedback, and sold many Audis, BMW’s, and Benzes that the new owners are thrilled with. They and others have offered to act as references to verify that I am honest in my descriptions of the cars I sell, and you are welcome to contact them. -- THIS IS A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME CAR, AND IT'S AN UNBELIEVABLE DEAL!! If you have questions, please call Bruce at 856-912-2600 or email me in advance. Winning bidder must send a $2000 deposit via wire transfer or bank/cashier’s check within 48 hours, and pay the balance within five additional days. Car and paperwork are ready to be delivered when funds are clear in my account. Car is sold as-is, where-is, and there are no warranties expressed or implied, exclusive of what ebay may offer to the buyer or what is included at the buy-it-now price. All sales are subject to a $199 documentation fee that includes title paperwork, title FedEx, temp tag, and more. Please have any financing lined up BEFORE you bid. Please check my feedback: I do not play games, and I have sold items on ebay for more than the value of this one. No negative or hidden feedback buyers please, and I reserve the right to verify and/or cancel bids that come from users with poor/low/no feedback ratings. Good luck and happy bidding!
